Thorn nodded.
"You can be assured my employees will uphold the armistice we are forging today. Despite whatever punishment you think you are capable of dishing out, it is nothing compared to what I will unleash should I find that my orders aren't followed."
The calmness of the words emanating from the mechanical voice box was not able to mask the direness and danger that hung off of every syllable. Thorn meant everything he said. His priority here was to create a pause on one of his war fronts to focus on the greater threat to his power. No one was safe from his wrath and from an early grave should they stand in his way.
Kai spoke again, and Thorn noted some attempt at a taunt. Was this freak of nature trying to rile him up or throw him off his game? The stupid beast could do whatever it wanted to convince itself it still had some measure of control in this situation. Thorn knew that he held all the cards. He was guarding all the locks, and he carried all the keys to victory. He even held the numbers advantage, although Weland was at this point little more than a prop. The Antisocial Socialite barely paid any attention to his own freak standing behind him next to the greatly injured bag of meat that was Emeline. He spoke again, having practiced his next words carefully.
"You aren't wrong, officer: it would be simply lovely to have one of those monstrosities under our organization's control. Unfortunately, it's hard to make a loyal employee out of a corpse. Every one of these experimentations that have been discovered have died upon their defeat, which makes data extraction limited, at best."
He folded his arms across his chest.
"So you've noticed the typing issue too... good. In good faith of our arrangement, I have no issues telling you that we've come across a Lopunny under control of the Diamond Crystals. However, it too had a strange aspect to it. It was a Ghost type. I don't mean that it just knew Ghost-type maneuvers: it was a true Ghost type. However once our agents knocked it out, it was shown to be a withered husk. Our laboratories were unable to definitively tell whether it died during the battle or if it was already dead before combat had even started. What the Crystals appear to be after is some new form of evolution."
The bomb had been dropped. Thorn locked his eyes on Kai's face to see if there was any reaction that would give away if the Police had figured that part out already as he droned on.
"It's not quite the same as any known form of evolution, and clearly it is incredibly unstable. However, you know as well as I do that the incidents occurring across the world here are just growing more and more violent, and their beasts are growing more and more stable. What we don't know yet is why, but the why will fail to be relevant if we don't know how to stop them."
