Cynder had done fairly well last session, and she was still raring to go, so Clover figured it'd be a good idea for her training to continue. Last time was a bit unorthodox, so she felt it'd be a good idea to be a bit more, for lack of a better term, practical. Cynder could Growl just fine, but what about her offensive capabilities?
Well, she could Scratch up something like a practice dummy fine enough, but what about something that was moving? Hitting a moving target would have to be harder, wouldn't it? That made sense to Clover. They'd just have to use something that could withstand a good scratching, or at least something that nobody would raise a fuss about if it was cut into pieces. And, of course, it'd have to be movable, or throwable, or something like that.
Ultimately, her quest to find something that fit the above criteria was solved when she saw that her tangerines were going bad.
It was simple: Clover would throw the citrus fruits in Cynder's direction, and Cynder would be tasked with clawing them to pieces in midair. Pretty ingenious, if Clover said so herself. Sure, such an approach would certainly make things messy, not to mention hard to clean up, but...hey, it wasn't like they'd be the ones doing so, right?

Retro had done quite well during training sessions in the past, and Clover had to commend him for his dedication, but that didn't mean that they didn't have more to work on. After all, he was still a rounded circle with little flipper feet, and would probably stay that way for the foreseeable future. Still being a Rock-type meant that he had good strength and durability, but as for dexterity...well, there was room for improvement. If he could dodge attacks while still hitting hard, he'd do great!
So, Clover had him work on his gymnastics skills. This, unfortunately, was difficult, as one may imagine. There was a whole room full of equipment, and not much of it was usable...but there was one thing that caught her attention.
"Here ya go, Retro," Clover said, scooping up her rocky companion and, with some difficulty, lifting him up to the edge of the trampoline. "Just scooch yourself over to the middle and start bouncing."
This was rather new for Retro, to say the least. He could jump, sure, but jumping up and down on a trampoline? That just seemed absurd. But hey, it held his weight, and if humans could leap up high and do cool gymnastics tricks in midair, surely he could too.

As much as Clover would've loved to put Retro back into the swing of things as the next week began, last training session didn't go as well as she would've liked. At the very least, Retro did okay up until he bounced himself off the trampoline and hit his head. Yeah, he'd need to take it easy for the time being. But at least Cynder was up for more action!
training her to Scratch moving objects went well, but what about hitting them with Ember. That was where the real damage dealing lied, right? Well, Clover didn't have any old fruit sitting around that week, but she was able to get her hands on some rubber balls that were...hopefully fireproof. Hey, at least they were big enough that Cynder could probably hit them, even at range. Plus, they had a pretty good bounce to them, so they seemed perfect for the job!
Clover threw out the first ball and challenged Cynder to shoot it out of the air. As it bounced along, Cynder tracked its movements just fine, but hesitated to fire off a shot. This confused Clover a bit. Was she trying not to miss? Or maybe she was just worried about damaging the Dojo's property. Well, either way, Clover knew she'd have to give her plenty of encouragement if they were to proceed.

Retro was back in action, and seemed as ready as he'd ever be to prove himself again. First things first, it was decided that he'd be working on his tackling skills. It was basic training, sure, but it was a good skill to improve on, considering the fact that concussive force was his main asset in a fight.
So, Clover plopped down an inflatable dummy and tasked Retro with knocking it around. Easy enough, really, especially when he'd already done that sort of thing in the past. Retro tackled it with full force over and over again, never letting up for a second. His dedication was impressive, but he was also really tiring himself out. Was it really a good idea to speed through their training like that? Clover wasn't sure, so she decided to speak up.
"Hey Retro, Why don't you slow down a bit, yeah? Like, try stepping back a bit before charging again, for one thing. It's not like you always wanna be right up in front of your opponent."
Retro sighed, as if he were frustrated, but nonetheless seemed to understand what she was getting at. Perhaps he could go at his training in a more thoughtful manner? Hopefully. At the very least, it'd be best if he didn't completely tire himself out after a few minutes.

Retro may not have been the most enthusiastic Pokemon in the world - in fact, that would be a huge overstatement - but he'd shown himself to be great in training. That probably had something to do with him being great on offense, though he obviously had other abilities he could potentially call upon if needed. Among those, perhaps the most mundane was his ability to kick sand in someone's face. Despite that being something so simple that Clover could do that herself, it still seemed like a useful enough skill for Retro to work on.
Thus, Retro found himself in a room filled with sand, tasked with kicking sand onto a target dummy. This seemed like a rather easy task to Retro, to the point where he felt like they were wasting their time, but nonetheless, he gave it a shot.
Obviously, he could kick sand onto the thing, but that wasn't sufficient, was it? In an actual battle, he needed to kick the sand into his opponent's eyes. Doing so would harm their vision and cause a distracting level of irritation, so aiming for the target dummy's face was most ideal for his purposes. The problem was, the target dummy in question was much larger than himself, so he'd have quite the hard time actually kicking the sand up that high. Perhaps that was where the true difficulty lied, he thought to himself.

Another day, another bout of training for Clover to get through. She may have wanted to keep things interesting, like most days, but on that occasion, she was mainly hoping to be practical. She had things she wanted to get to later that day, and the last thing she wanted was to waste time on some convoluted training method. As such, Cynder would be going for pure power.
Cynder's Ember slammed into the Slaking-shaped dummy, causing wisps of flame to scatter from the impact yet doing little to the dummy in the process. The thing was heavier than most of the other training dummies available to them, so if she could knock it around, she'd be strong as all hell. Unfortunately, with how little it was budging, she couldn't say she was that strong yet.
"Try charging it up before you fire it," Clover suggested. Cynder liked the idea, to be sure, but she didn't know how much that'd affect things. Her fireballs were only so string, right? If only she knew Dragon Breath or something. In any case, she gave it a try, building the heat in her mouth to make her next fireball even bigger and stronger than before. With any luck, it'd be strong enough to have a real effect.

With Retro proving himself to be small but strong, he'd become fairly confident in his ability to blow through any physical strength-based training without much issue. However, there was still the matter of whether he was truly strong enough to defeat tough opponents with similar ease. When it came to contest of strength, there were still some uncertainties.
That was ultimately why Retro was currently butting heads with a Ryhorn. The things were strong creatures, able to topple a skyscraper (somehow), and this one in particular loved throwing its weight around, apparently. It was one tough customer, meaning that Retro really had his work cut out for him. Being sent hurtling backwards with a single flick of the Ryhorn's head, Retro began wondering how long it'd be before he reached his full potential.
The dream, after all, was to achieve his final form, becoming strong enough to blow up an entire mountain. Compared to such a feat, destroying a skyscraper would be nothing. He just had to keep pushing himself to become stronger, and he'd eventually get to that point. With that in mind, he had no choice but to get back up, gather his strength, and challenge the big meathead to another test of strength.

Important Info
Season
Good news, Autumn is here! The sticky heat of the summer is finally gone, but the bad news? Its gotten very cold very fast. Berrys have fallen early from their perches, fruit and food is getting caught in snap frosts and icy mornings and this is leading to very cold mornings, pokemon getting desprate quickly and dark and chilly evenings
Next season change ~ May 20th
Swarming Pokemon!
Encouraged Characters
Currently, our character numbers are pretty even, so aside from us gently encouraging more civilians and breeders...go nuts!
Numbers of Gijinka on site have dropped, too, so they're open to be applied for at the moment- though, if you're interested, go check out the adoptable threads for many wanted ones! They could always use players! ;-)
