Nix was beginning to think that the fact it was so cold out and the winter seemed to be one of the worst the region had ever had, in fact ever on Shula's records, that maybe it was effecting her training. Well not her training per-say, more than she was focusing on training bolt a lot right now and he was a pokemon bred, born and raised in shula and so the odd weather might be throwing him off. Of course the shinx was loving this excuse and was playing it up every chance he got, even walking in to the dojo and shaking off the snow from his coat even though he was very much built to live in snowy weather like this.

As nix took off her jacket and hung it up, the shinx was wandering down the hallway to the room he liked so when nix turned, she had to run after him to catch up and barely got to the door before him. He chuckled at this, the ranger shoving the door open and moving in first before she frowned at the room choice. Bolt slipped in behind her, looking over the room with a few targets hanging from the roof and nodded, focusing himself and sending a blast of mud aiming for once just as nix jumped aside.

Nix had taken last week to look in to all she could about her shinx and where he came from to see if there was something to do that she could help him with in his training each week, however, it was through all this she had learned that she had gotten the wrong end of the stick when they met. She had assumed from what he said about his family an their likes that he was used to warmer places and needed them to do well but it seemed now that that was not true and he was in fact a pokemon bred for mountains and chilly hills and she had just not asked this whole time.

Sighing to herself, she decided she was going to get him back this week and so wandered in to the dojo with him beside her and a smug grin on her face. She started over to a room she had not used before had pushed the door open, the shinx following in a little confused but coming in all the same. Inside was snow covering the floor, coming from a hole in the roof, and it seemed the idea was to slid over it and try to hit some ice targets in the process which bolt did a few moments later with a little too much ease and happiness to keep up his cover that he disliked the cold.

Nix was very proud of the progress her shinx was making in these one to one training sessions in the dojo, the little pokemon getting stronger each time they made this trip and the moves he was using becoming stronger as well. But more than that, he was getting more and more accurate and getting more control over the moves he had which nix was finding was the key. Anyone could use a more, or try to, but not everyone could land a move and if her pokemon only ever used say 4 moves but landed all of them, she was happier with that over knowing 6 and never hitting anything.

She laughed to herself as she thought this, taking off her jacket inside the dojo and hanging it beside the door while bolt slowly walked down the corridor. The ranger turned her head and nodded to the girl behind the desk who smiled to her, nix smiling back before she started after her shinx and hummed to herself all the while. The pair opened the door to the track room, one nix had not used for a while and one bolt seemed confused over before nix tapped the timer on and he seemed to see the starting line on the track. He grinned, dashing over to it and beginning to run as nix chuckled to herself.

Nix had been down to see Kari this week, Bolt at her side, and the ranger had asked the professor if she had any idea what they would need to do in order to get the little shinx to evolve in to one of his later forms. The professor did some tests here and there and came up wit the answer, "nothing seemed too different" and so nix came to understand this meant her shinx needed to get to the right level to evolve. However, when Kari explained that the shinx had passed this level, the ranger and professor started work in to what else might be needed.

As nix and bolt stepped in to the dojo, the pair grinned and then hurried down the hall. As bolt stepped in to the track room, nix holding the door for him and stepping in once he had passed her, she watched him move to the starting line and went to press the button for the timer. She had barely pressed it when he took off, though a beep made her look down and she grinned as she took in the note on her xtransciver. "Ground typing - Swamp maybe? Desert? Think earth" the comment read and nix nodded to herself, glancing up to see her shinx spriting past. "Maybe when we are done here" the ranger said softly, plan brewing in her mind.

After last week, nix had come back to the ranger base and clocked out before taking a half day to head home and have a warm bath before giving an even warmer one to bolt and a massage for the muscles he had pulled and strained from training. It was never a good thing exactly but a few days rest and some trips to the pokemon center meant nothing was wrong with the pup by the time the following week and as much as nix warned him while they walked up to the dojo, she was sure he was not going to be careful.

As the door slid open, she finished her current comment on taking things slow and doing things in moderation and in that moment, the kitten dashed off down the hall and nix had to rush after him only to find him pawing at the door he wanted for the week. Nix sighed, pushing it open and slipping out of her coat as the pup ran towards a small pool and jumped from the starting point to a lilypad floating in the water and then steadied himself to jump again, nix turning and see this, frowning for a moment at the room choice before bolt jumped again and only half landed on the next pad with a small shocked yelp.

The hard work of heading up to the dojo in the cold weather was paying off little by little, something nix was noting as she watched bolt getting a little stronger each day and their hard work was chipping away at the goal the pair had set for themselves. As a result, as they walked up to the dojo this week, the duo discussed where they would need to go to get an evolution for the shinx so he would be able to, with time and more training, be able to become his final form just like he wanted.

Nix was beginning to worry, as she stepped through the dojo doors and begun to take off her coat, that without knowing where to head to help her shinx evolve that he would be the right level and power and just not have the other things they needed. However as she watched him hopping from paw to paw beside the door he wanted this week as she followed him, she forgot this worry and hurried inside. She watched the shinx move in to the room with the tunnels, diving in to one and hurrying through it before he paused and she heard the padding of the wll slid over and nix smiled. They'd get there.

They were getting there. Nix knew it was taking time and she was very very aware of how much effort it was taking but bolt was getting closer and closer every day to the goal the feline had of getting to his evolution. Sure, nix knew that once her work here every week with this fellow was done then tain wanted her to help him with his too but he was scatty, easy to lose focus and work on other things and seeing as bolt was so narrowed in on this, she figured it better to work with him for now.

As such, the pair were in the dojo and standing in the "lily pad" room. The floor was coated in mud and sure, bolt was a ground type but he didnt want to end up in all that right now and have to go back to the beginning of the trail of pads to have to restart. He was in fact about half way along right now, finding out the first time he did this that on the end of the track the pads started to be fake and would drop after a few seconds but right now, he was jumping for the next pad as nix gave a little encouraging cheer.

Nix had been coming to the dojo so often now with bolt that when she awoke to the sound of her "dojo" alarm she reached down to the end of the bed, expecting to find the shinx waiting. Instead, she found nothing and opened her eyes confused, turning her head only to find tain staring at her from beside the clock. This lead to her starting, rolling out the side of the bed and landing on the floor in a heap. After tain helped her up and explained he wanted to evolve too, wanting some focus in the dojo, nix chuckled and got dressed.

The pair walked to the dojo together, tain explaining that he had been happy to wait for his turn to train but bolt was so strong now and seemed to be much tougher so he wanted a turn. Of course as they stepped in to the dojo, nix agreed and told the deerling to pick a room. He chose the greenhouse, not something nix had expected but as they stepped in to it, the air was warm and tain gave a happy giggle as he started sprouting and then shooting off seeds which he started to plant in to the soil.
