A Night in the Dojo

[Nix Night]

From The Darkness Of The Nights

Nix nodded to tain as she held the gate open for him, turning to wave to her collection of pokemon waiting in the garden as the deerling passed by her before he moved out of the front gate and called over. Nix turned to him, letting the gate clatter shut behind her and hurried after the grass type as he dashed off, running up the path towards the dojo. The pair soon stopped running, the heat making that both unpleasant and hard work, and made their way to the dojo side by side.

As they arrived, nix paused to say hello to the girl at the counter who informed her that some of the plants in the green house now had small berries and fruits on them. In fact nix had to call tain back and the deerling trotted over, the girl a the desk asking if she was allowed to sell or trade off the harvest he grew to keep the dojo running. The deer grinned at this, nodded his head so hard nix was sure he would hit the desk and then the grass type was off, charging to the greenhouse. Nix followed him, catching up in time to find him once more weeding his now rather well grown plants, muttering to them about being as helpful as himself.

Nix knew she had a long day of jobs to do today, though as she was woken up to the sounds of laughter and huffing outside her window, she turned to see her son already up and beginning to tug the curtains open. As he did so, he started to laugh harder and nix swung herself up and out of bed, slipping on her slippers as she got up and walked to the window. She was greeted by the sight of tain outside in the garden, the deer watching a small blob of white come to rest and then as the ranger turned her head, she noted a large smiling face drawn out of grass and dew on the lawn. Nix laughed, nodding down to a now resting ripley at her fine work before it seemed tain noticed his trainer was awake.

He started for the side gate, nix having to grab her clothes and dress as fast as she could as she hopped downstairs only to find the deer shooting over the front lawn and heading off. The ranger was able to catch up, though trainer and pokemon dashed to the dojo together after this without a pause once they were inside the door, instead, nix headed for the first time to the track room with tain following without a thought. The pair moved inside, still running down and now only over the track instead, nix making sure to hit the timer for her normal type as they jogged past.

As nix bent down to collect her bag from the ground, the girl at the hot cash stall thanked her again and the red head shook her head and nodded. With that, and her own bag resting on her hip, she sent out tain beside the stall and nodded to the grass type. "Ready to train?" she asked, turning and starting up towards the dojo herself, this making the deer pokemon nod his head sharply as a reply before he turned and dashed after her.

The pair made their way to the dojo, nix stepping inside and moved to the race track door only to find tain had already skipped off and past her. The ranger chuckled at this, but found him in the green house with his head low. As she walked over, he noted his jerk his head back and there was a small weed in his mouth, nix nodding and then taking her cue to go and begin filling watering cans as tain skipped over the lines of plants. As nix filled and dropped down the first can, tain came up behind her and grabbed it before moving back over to the rows of seelings and beginning to water each one.

Nix was ready this week, the ranger bringing a spare pair of gloved with her as she headed up the dojo with tain and as she walked in to the dojo itself, she was already turning and starting down the corridor to the greenhouse when she noted tain was not beside her. The red head paused and frowned and paused, turning her head back to see the grass type heading off in the direction of the track room which made nix frown deeper but she took a deep breath and slipped off her spare gloves and dropped them in to her bag as she started back down the hall.

She got to the side of the track room as tain leaned against it, nix narrowing her eyes to her pokemon but pushing the door open and then leaning just inside the wall as the deer trotted happily down to the race track. He took off, happily charging around and nix lifted up one foot and pressed it against the wall behind herself to steady herself. She watched as tain ran, ran faster and then seemed to flag before he started to run faster again and she shook her head, sighing to herself.

It was beginning to become some what of a habit for nix on the day of the week she had off, the red head would wake up and quickly whip up a bowl of poffin mix with the berries she knew lil would have gathered by the time she was up. A swift poke to her son, still in bed, while the mix went in to a warm over and as oakley rolled over and nodded to her, the ranger collected her deerling and started out of the house with a wave to ripley, heading down to the creek.

Tain and nix moved up to the dojo, the deerling taking the chance to head back to the green house this week and nix chuckled to herself before following him. She paused at the entrance, checking a small message from her son saying he was taking the left over breakfast in to work for his lunch which made the ranger grin before she glanced up to find tain racing over the plants he cared for and tugging up weeds left and right. As he did so, nix moved over to where she knew her place was, filling buckets with water as the grass type rushed about.

Tain lowered his head to the ground and move it from side to side, his eyes moving over the sprouting plant in front of him before he snorted and the plant was shaken in the sudden gust of warm air. With this, the deer lifted himself up and then nodded his head, the grass type trotting from this first plant and on to the next one a little away from it and then bending down to closely check over this next one.

The can nix lowered gave a loud clang as she set it down and tain snorted again, this time harder and the plant he was inspecting actually rocked down for a moment before righting itself as the deer whined softly before he turned his head to glare at his trainer. Nix rolled her eyes, nodding her own head to the trio of currently filled watering cans before pointing to an empty spot beside her. Tain shook his head in reply, turning back and moving to the next plant to bend down and check it, leading his trainer to roll her eyes and then leaned back where she was crouching and allow herself to fall back and sit down as she waited.

Nix stepped back and she leaned on the wall behind her, slipping down the glass behind her and dropped so she was sitting with her knees raised and her hand coming to rest on top of her knees as she watched across the green house. Tain had made such a fuss of coming up to the dojo "before the sun did" so nix had gotten enough sleep but not enough to be actually well rested and so she had done her job for the day and now, she was not going to do any more. This meant tain had 1 watering can currently filled and a hose now attached to the main tap, nix not willing to fill up more as she leaned her head back on to the glass behind her and close her eyes.

As the sun moved up and shone through the greenhouse glass, sending bright orange rays over the deer pokemon, tain was tugging up small weeds around the base of the one of the plants he had planted so long ago. They were so big they were growing trunks now and as tain pulled, the trunk swayed a little but this time stayed still, much to the grass types pride.

Nix knew that some of her pokemon were beginning to use the time she took to bring tain up to the dojo in order to get in some training, this was revealed to her as she found ripley curled up in front of a now lit fire place one morning and the ranger caught the pokemon complaining about cold water. It seemed kuda had placed some logs on the fire in an attempt to warm the water type, though it now did mean nix was going to need to get more.

As such, while tain wandered about on his normal weeding and the like in the dojo greenhouse this week, nix had her own mission. She had a basket on her arm and wandering over the room, breaking down branches which were rotting or beginning to break away and gathering them up. The thing was, it was a little in to this that she felt a large weight on her arm and turned to see tain walking away, the grass type having apparently gathered a lot of twigs and branches from trees himself in his pruning and while it meant more reaching and bucking than normal, he had tried to help his trainer with her chore too.
