“Alright, let’s do it again, Domino!”
“Emonga!”
“Remember: Quick Attack, and Thunder Shock at once.”
Selina came back to the dojo with her partner, Domino. She decided to iron out all the wrinkles when it came to this new attack. The teen was confident in Domino’s skill as time went on, but Domino needed a little more practice with the attack to make Spark more reliable. The Emolga ran on all fours, running at full speed toward the tree before letting loose a Thunder Shock mid run, knocking the attack into various trees and stones, prompting the Emolga to trip again. This was okay, this was the first attempt of the day… but that also gave Selina an incentive to figure out why the attack had worked in some points and why it failed in others like just now.
Selina folded her arms over her chest. “How about you start with Thunder Shock, and then slowly run more and more? Maybe less Quick Attack, and more Thunder Shock.” Domino shook her head a little bit before sitting up and then stood to her feet, nodding in agreement with her Trainer, as she looked over at a massive stone in a distance. A wave of electricity blew around the Emolga, prompting her Trainer to back away from the squirrel, but… there was something different about this Thunder Shock… but it was still Thunder Shock, it wasn’t Spark.
“Stop.” Selina said, shaking her head before smiling. “Don’t use a Thunder Shock: make it more like a Charge, but as an attack. And then do whatever you think feels right. I trust your instinct, Domino.”
“Emon.” Domino nodded as electricity started dancing around herself again. However, instead of it being sent outward, it was being absorbed inward. “Emo emo emo emo emo…” Domino spoke as the energy started filling more and more by the second… and then the squirrel was covered with electricity, and Selina’s eyebrows raised again. This was an electric attack, no doubt about it… but this wasn’t Thunder Shock, and this wasn’t Charge.
This had to be Spark.
“Moon… ga!” Domino launched herself at the stone, leaping back and flipping head over tail before landing on the ground. The stone didn’t quite shattered, but based on Domino’s exhaustion and the pure damage done on the stone, this had to have been the strongest attack the Emolga knew thus far.
Selina approached the Emolga and placed a hand on her head, causing Domino to sigh happily. “I think you got it now.”

Nya the Chimchar, once Marcy’s established teammate, now under the ownership of Team Rocket Grunt Selina O’Sullivan. Life was a lot simpler for the Chimchar before Selina came into her life… being raised by a good Trainer, fed good food, made good friends… Nya was a happy little Chimchar, without a care in the world. Now she was being forced to work for an underground crime syndicate that wanted to trap all Pokémon and bring them under their control… like her.
What was worse? There was nothing she could do to stop them. Selina wasn’t exactly one of the more experienced of the members, but the teen was good at forcing the chimp to cooperate. She wasn’t sure if Selina was genuine or not, but part of the reason was that Selina seemed concerned for the chimp’s safety at times… the chimp still wasn’t convinced that her new “Trainer” if she could even call her that was worth trusting, but what Miro had told her about Team Rocket scared her.
If the snake wasn’t brave enough to fight against it, Nya was hardly strong enough to deal with it. So, when Selina offered to get started with some training, the Chimchar refused at first… but then she got to thinking. If she became strong enough, evolved enough… then maybe she could fight her way out of Selina’s care and find her way back to Marcy. Yeah, and then maybe she could help put a stop to Team Rocket for good.
But… what of Selina? The Chimchar wasn’t fond of the girl, but… she was starting to wonder if she was truly evil. She fed her Pokémon fine, and while she had her moments, she actually… seemed rather chill. The thing about her, though, was that she seemed interested in pushing her limit on what bad thing she could handle doing… why though? She didn’t exactly seem like the type, to be honest… Until she steals Pokémon, then she seems like the type.
“You evolve into a Fire-Fighting type,” Selina said to Nya with the enthusiasm that the Chimchar lacked. “That’s pretty exciting. I don’t have a Fighting-Type yet, and I heard it’s good to have one. So, how do you feel about working on your Double Kick to start?” The question didn’t cause much of a reaction other than a nod, but a nod was a huge step as far as Selina was concerned. The teen accepted the affirmation and the two got to work.
Training with Nya... Maybe.

“Nya, c’mon! You said you would cooperate… no, we’re not working on Ember today, you need to use Double Kick! Ack! Stop attacking me- ow!”
The Chimchar snickered at her accomplishment, having landed an Ember attack on the teen’s tail end, and earning a scowl from the human. Just because she wanted to get stronger, didn’t mean she was going to make things easy for her “Trainer”. How was she meant to work with someone she didn’t respect? She felt she could get stronger on her own if her last attempt was any indication. “You want me to listen to you?” The Chimchar mocked, knowing full well that the human couldn’t understand her. “Well, let’s see… You took me from my Trainer, continued stealing Pokémon for bad guys, and you’re wanting me to fight for your sick cause, even though I’ve made it pretty clear that I don’t want to… why should I listen to you exactly?”
Selina squinted at the chimp’s babbling, only hearing various chimp sounds instead of any discernable words, which only further frustrated the teen. It may have taken her longer to understand her Pokémon than perhaps most other Trainers, but this wasn’t normal. Nya was making sure she wasn’t being understood by Selina. She refused to say anything the teen would understand, and while Selina was ignorant of what the Chimchar was saying, she wasn’t stupid. She knew she was being disrespected, and she didn’t like it one bit.
“Alright,” Selina said sealing her mouth in a line. “You wanna do things your way? Go ahead: you try figuring out how to make yourself stronger. See how it goes. I’ll wait.” Selina walked away from the Chimchar, who seemed a little bewildered at first, looking over at the Rocket Grunt, who sat with her legs crossed and rested her chin on her palm. The Chimchar didn’t respond right away, blinking as the teen nodded, prompting the Chimchar to try. “Go on.” Selina said with a nod, prompting the chimp to purse her lip and turn to face a bush.
The only movement at first was the flickering of the flame on the Chimchar’s tail end, Nya uncertain on what to do at first. She glanced back over at Selina, who continued to stare at her unimpressed, and the chimp gulped in response, her pride to strong for her to loosen up now. She could make herself stronger without Selina’s help, surely… The Chimchar swiped Scratch attacks at the bush, prompting her to yelp in pain as she was unaware of the thorns on the bushes, glaring at the bush before unleashing an ember on the bush… which disintegrated the target, making it useless to her now.
When Nya glanced back at Selina, she was sick to see that sickening grin on her face. The Chimchar knew the teen was probably better at guiding her Pokémon in the right direction than she was doing it herself, but she wasn’t about to give in. She searched for another target… and just so happened to be working on her Double Kick attack. B-but not because Selina wanted her to…!
Training with Nya... I guess?

As Selina entered the Dojo, for the first time since losing her sight and hearing mind you, the Pokemon of choice that was joining her in training today was her Gastly, Clarity. For the first half hour, the Ghost-Type made attempts to mess with her Trainer. Spooking her, mocking her, even phasing through her Trainer, but nothing was giving her the reaction the Gastly preferred to see. The only reaction Selina gave was a shudder, and it wasn’t really funny… on the contrary, it almost made the Ghost-Type a little sad.
Clarity floated in front of her Trainer, expanding her gaseous form as she didn’t exactly have any hands to wave in front of her face, and when there was no obvious reaction to it, the gaseous Pokemon shrunk a little smaller than she had before she expanded. Clarity liked to cause Selina trouble, but something about seeing her Trainer actually struggling tugged at her. She hoped her Trainer would heal soon, and if not, they could find a new kind of normal.
But Clarity wasn’t sure what to do in the meantime. What was she meant to do in a training area without instruction from her Trainer?
Well, since she was chosen to come here, Clarity decided that she would train however way she felt appropriate. The gaseous Pokemon would work on being the kind of Pokemon she believed Selina wanted her to be so that when the teen and her Pokemon powered past this trialing season in their time together, maybe she could see a smile on her face. As much as she liked seeing shock or even frustration from her Trainer, nothing would make her happier to see Selina smile right now.
With that said, she focused on a stone, her eyes glowing a spooky red as an energy of sorts surrounding the stone. She knew she was using Mean Look on a stone, but this was how she chose to begin her sessions: Mean Look would be the first move she would use on any Pokemon who wanted to try and get away from her. The Ghost-Type would work on wearing down her opponents until there was no fight left. She would do this for her Trainer.

Bringing Risasi to the Dojo was a challenge even under normal circumstances. In fact, Risasi never entered the building despite being one of the Pokemon Selina owned the longest. So honestly, no one expected him to enter this building while Selina was blind and deaf but… there was something different about this Horsea. When he’d first seen the state that Selina was in, the Water-Type was beyond nervous. He tried to get some kind of information, but at the same time, accepting said information was just about impossible for him to do right away.
However, once he was able to see for himself: the glaze in Selina’s eyes, her being incapable of responding to him when he tried to get her attention, the absolute fear she had…
…Something changed in Risasi. It might not have been a huge change, but it was enough for the Horsea to swallow his nerves and get to training. Clarity, of all Pokemon, seemed to be his inspiration. The Ghost-Type’s own fierce dedication to becoming stronger made Risasi wonder if he could do the same.
Only one way to find out, right?
Well, he went and… well, he didn’t have the slightest clue on what he was meant to do at first. The Horsea leapt into the water of the room for Water-Types, a room that Selina had never entered before but was necessary for the Pokemon to move at all, and at first he wandered around the body of water aimlessly. Well, he was here… now what? The sea horse floated over to Selina, who didn’t even have an inkling that she was even there. He looked up at his Trainer in a pleading manner, almost as if he was trying to will her to see him… but nothing.
How was he supposed to train himself, for the first time, with no instruction?
Was this all for nothing? Was he just going to fail? He looked down at his own reflection in the water, and just as he was on the brink of quitting… something started rising in his stomach. Risasi glared and looked over at his Trainer before scooting back again. If he couldn’t get her to give her instructions just by willing it, maybe he could find a different way. Taking in a deep breath, Risasi started letting a melody ring out in the room, echoing from the walls and ceiling, before growing silent and still. The atmosphere around Risasi became rather ominous…
…But this was what the Horsea needed to motivate him.
Diving into the water, Risasi let out a smokescreen around himself before launching bubbles from his nose toward various directions. He then rushed out of the billow of smoke before covering himself in another smokescreen, and then leapt out of the water. Risasi glared at his unaware Trainer, and then unleashed a flurry of bubbles, most of which surrounded her. However, one ended up landing on her nose before popping. The teen didn’t react too much, but her eyebrows raised and… she mouthed something. A name…
…There was only one Pokemon she knew of that would use such a sloppy Bubble attack… and that name was…
‘…Risasi…’

Despite Clarity wanting so desperately to return to the Dojo, Risasi was allowed in again due to his sudden interest in becoming stronger. He was meant to learn a move last time, but no matter how hard he tried he just couldn’t get it right. Most Pokemon would find Leer a joke of a move to learn. Miro, one of Selina’s first Pokemon, was born with that move. However, Horsea weren’t so naturally inclined to scare other Pokemon, so it wasn’t such an obvious thing for Risasi, who lacked the skill even more so than others of his species.
For that reason, he decided he would focus on that move and that move alone.
Sitting on his Trainer’s lap for a moment, Risasi tried to glare at his Trainer, who still couldn’t see or hear a thing. She recognized that it was Risasi because he had made the habit of sending bubbles her way every couple of minutes. He thought it was only right to allow her to know he was right there with her, especially in these trying times for her. For that reason, Risasi was determined to work hard, too.
While his Trainer didn’t really respond to his poor attempt at a Leer attack, Risasi still felt ready to give it a try in the water anyway. The seahorse hopped out of his Trainer’s arms and dove into the water, trying to focus and glare at anything it could. He hoped he would find something that could reflect his face, and then he came across a mirror that had sunk to the bottom of the pool. There, he glared into the mirror over and over again to see if he could truly master the move.
It didn’t always give him the reaction he liked, but he could tell he was making some progress… maybe he would’ve learned the move by the time they were finished with this session.

As the fish plopped over to the water, he was given the same determination as his fellow teammates. No matter what happened, Nemo would do his best to become the strongest fish he could be-!
Just kidding… he’s a Magikarp. There were no thoughts behind those eyes, none for his Trainer anyway. Thoughts for people and Pokemon? Far too complex for an utterly pathetic creature like himself, although unlike Risasi it didn’t seem like Nemo really cared. He had his passion: to leap higher than any Magikarp could before, and that, he surmised, was why he was present in this dojo that day. He uselessly sucked in air, and if Selina could see him at that moment perhaps she would wonder how he survived so long on land.
Right at that moment was when she, perhaps, understood her Magikarp the most. What it was like to be oh so totally pathetic and useless… at least, that was how she felt. Although Nemo was useless in a different way from Selina… though it was hard for her to decide which one of them was more useless right then.
As he wiggled his entire body, Nemo launched himself into the air a… solid three feet before plopping down on the ground and flopping around uselessly. The second Nemo happened to touch the ground was, ironically, the moment Selina decided that she would wait to see how long she was like this before making a final decision.

Important Info
Season
Good news, Autumn is here! The sticky heat of the summer is finally gone, but the bad news? Its gotten very cold very fast. Berrys have fallen early from their perches, fruit and food is getting caught in snap frosts and icy mornings and this is leading to very cold mornings, pokemon getting desprate quickly and dark and chilly evenings
Next season change ~ May 20th
Swarming Pokemon!
Encouraged Characters
Currently, our character numbers are pretty even, so aside from us gently encouraging more civilians and breeders...go nuts!
Numbers of Gijinka on site have dropped, too, so they're open to be applied for at the moment- though, if you're interested, go check out the adoptable threads for many wanted ones! They could always use players! ;-)
