APPEARANCE
A long, refined frame with moderate muscle tone an a distinct lack of fat might be the first traits one would notice of Forrest Spencer, were one not meeting the steely gaze often radiating from his five-foot-ten frame. Dark, shaggy hair sits atop the young man's head, and dark eyes that sit somewhere on a spectrum of navy to charcoal in tint are affixed to a thin, clean-shaven face. One might rarely see much emotion from him save his stoic, stubborn glare when angry and a pompous smirk in place of joyous expression.
Never one to focus much on fashion, Ollie would regularly be quite content to whatever outfit he might readily have available, and it would not be out of place to see him dressed in any of a range of outfits from slacks and blazer, to jeans and collared shirt or band tee. The most consistent article of clothing would undoubtedly be black leather boots of a pseudo-goth style adorned with straps and buckles in lieu of shoelaces. A digital wristwatch more often than not adorns Ollie's dominant left wrist (yes, he's a lefty!), though it's not as much a staple of his attire as would be those boots.

HISTORY
Nineteen years and some change ago (almost twenty now, actually), on a blisteringly cold winter morning, a boy was born to unwed parents in the town of Pyrite, a dusty, dreary city entrenched within the Orre region. Ollie grew up with his mother, while his father hopped in and out of his life with greater frequency than the changing of the seasons, or so it felt. He was never the wealthiest, but his mother worked hard at the broadcast network in his town to afford living expenses for her one and only child and herself. Ollie was somewhat of a loner for most of his youth as a result, and often became slow to trust.
This fact was exacerbated by the discovery that his father was no better than a career criminal and thief, and from that pre-teen realization forward Ollie made only one long-standing promise to his mom about what would become of him: he would never be a thief or criminal. Despite repeated attempts by his father once Ollie had grown enough to become familiar with Pokémon, Ollie never did bond with the man. Ollie's "first Pokémon" was perhaps his favorite memory of him, but a Spearow was far from the type to gain his interest at such a young age. Worse still, his father "borrowed" the bird after less than six months and Ollie never saw him again.
It was around this time that Miss Spencer adopted a new Pokémon for Ollie to help fill that void, and a sweet, timid Torchic which Ollie named "Ember" despite the move of the same name. He quickly started shortening her name in public to "Em", and she would become his most trusted companion as he progressed through his teens and into young adulthood, though he never paid much mind to battling unless it was deemed necessary until he had left Pyrite Town long behind.
It was decided in the summer months after his nineteenth birthday that Ollie would set out to make something more of himself and learn to train and raise Pokémon, and the destination of the Shula region was selected. It wasn't even until he had set foot on Shula's soil that he decided his mission was that of a trainer, rather than the potentially more appealing police or ranger jobs that might financially provide better. But no, Ollie would become a trainer first, and only then consider an alternative occupation once his feet were firmly under him.
