APPEARANCE
Ezra D'Lange stands at a height of 5'10" and is of a toned build from his years spent swimming at the beaches of Slateport City. Ezra's bright green eyes and friendly demeanor are some of the first things people will notice about him; whether that be for the right reasons or the wrong reasons. (What? It's not like anyone tries to steal from him because he looks friendly and gullible. Nope.) His brown hair is of a medium length and never seen as anything other than messily styled. Most days, Ezra leaves it just the way it is when he wakes up, only occasionally brushing his fingers through it to calm down some of the storm. Due to his upbringing in a very beach central town, Ezra had gotten his ears pierced for the sake of fitting in when he was younger, but still manages to put in the golden hoops his mother had gotten him ages ago and has not taken them out much since. Most of the time, Ezra can be found wearing baggy shorts or pants that have too many zippers for a normal pair of pants and a regular t-shirt with some sort of button up left open to blow in the breeze. If he's feeling like dressing up more, he'll wear the one pair of black skinny jeans, his nice pair of sneakers, and actually button up his shirt completely.
HISTORY
Ezra D'Lange was born and raised in Slateport City for his entire life. Surrounded by oceans and the ports that lead to every region, Ezra had found himself on a new adventure in his hometown every day as a kid. As a kid, he explored the beaches around Slateport, always finding tourists who would be laying out in the sun with their pokemon nearby. Pokemon battles were common between trainers on the beaches of Slateport, especially near the Seashore House. Every beach day would have a battle that he watched with adoration and excitement. Sometimes his father would come with him to battle at the Seashore House with stories of his past. A father who wanted to be a champion, but only made it so far into the gym challenge before dropping when he met his mother. Only later, would his father tell him about how he joined the force still wanting to find that excitement of battling, while protecting the people of Slateport.
His father always made time for him, rain or shine. The time off his father would get would be spent doing everything Ezra wanted and throughout his childhood, he learned to appreciate the moment he did get with his father early on. Once he became a teenager, his father had less and less time to spend with him. Always out on patrol or on duty for some situation that was happening. Rising up through the police ranks at a rapid pace with his partner pokemon, Pelliper, who always used to caw at Ezra when he was little. As a kid, he always would play with Pelliper on their time off and watching Pelliper take on other pokemon in battle at the Seashore House always was exciting to him. Into adulthood, he still had a fairly strong bond with his father's Pelliper, who seemed just as fond of him as he was to Pelliper.
His mother on the other hand was always around. The scarier of his parents by far, despite her friendly and loving demeanor. He's seen his mother take on professional trainers and policemen alike in his years. Always the loving woman, but he could remember the way she would look at him if he was misbehaving or did something wrong. Getting on his mom's bad side would not go well for anyone, so he always respected her and listened to her. Before having him, she had been a breeder who traveled many regions before including Shula, Kalos, and Hoenn just to name a few. After meeting his father, the two of them settled down in Slateport City to raise him. Now, she had a whole daycare for the tourists and locals who needed to leave their pokemon somewhere safe. Her Linoone always helping out with the business, but also having been sort of his babysitter as a kid despite everything. In his teenage years, Ezra would help around the daycare helping dozens of pokemon that he didn't really know, but was excited to see every time.
For most of his childhood, he spent his time in school in Slateport. School wasn't exactly exciting for Ezra, but he still worked hard to manage an average education for his parents. Days spent coming home from school to turn on the television to watch the pokemon league battles and excitedly name each pokemon he did know. Days spent helping his mother around the house and daycare in his free time, but also spending days at friends' houses having fun. Most of his childhood is filled with joyous memories of learning about the world around him and having the freedom to be who he wanted to be. A lot of his dreams revolved around the stories his parents would tell of their journeys, but he was always told that he would be allowed the chance to go on his own when he's eighteen.
At ten, his friends and other kids begin their journey's, but for Ezra D'Lange, his parents wanted him to continue with school. In their eyes, he wasn't ready. His mother had been stern in her desire of keeping him until he's eighteen. "It's dangerous out there, Ezra. When you're eighteen, you'll be better prepared." Part of him knew the world was dangerous, his own father had seen a lot of that danger, but Ezra was and still is naïve in that regard. Arguing with his mother had only led to more work at the daycare and a stern talking from his father about the importance of preparation and how he had wished his own parents had told him to wait.
Once he turned sixteen, after working in his mother's daycare for those six years while continuing school, his mother allowed him to travel around Hoenn to help her with the business side of the daycare. During that time, Ezra had found a love for exploring the world around him. Always travelling with someone else, he learned more of what Hoenn and the rest of the world around him was like. Trouble always seemed to find him during this time. After having his pocket money stolen a few times, his mother had brought him home with the promise that he'll get his chance for a journey. That year of travelling the Hoenn region had led to him meeting dozens of different people with their own stories and adventures. Many of them being trainers or coordinators or breeders travelling Hoenn to find their own paths. Over that year, he'd grown a lot more capable at surviving on his own. Sure, he still had a bad streak of getting caught up in things he really shouldn't be involved in from rescuing pokemon to accidentally walking into not the nicest of trainers, but he managed well enough.
At seventeen, Ezra D'Lange had come home. The year spent helping his mother at the daycare and learning more about pokemon now that he's started to grow more serious due to his mother's wishes coming closer. That year, he'd met his mother's sister who was from Shula. She'd come for a visit to Slateport and during that time, he talked about starting his own journey the next year. A smile on his aunt's face was all he got when he explained how much he wanted to have a pokemon of his own and battle like the trainers he'd seen who've come from all over the world to Slateport. What he didn't know then was his mother's plan to send him to her home region at eighteen after talking about for so long.
The day he turned eighteen, Ezra D'Lange learned of his mother and father's plans. Together, they sat him down and explained that he would be going to Shula under the conditions that he check in with his aunt on occasion and to have the journey he always wanted. Words of praise were shared between his mother and father at him about how much he's grown over the years into the young man he was. There were tears between all of them, but the days after he spent preparing himself for what came next. The excitement bubbling up as he packed anything and everything he could need for the Shula Region. His mother had told him all of the stories of being a kid there and reminded him that his aunt is always there and that he can come home to Slateport if he ever needed to. The day he climbed onto the boat, despite knowing the journey was going to be long and sickly inducing thanks to his weak genetics for motion sickness, he could see his parents crying. Pelliper flying around excitedly by the ships edge before flying back to his father. Linoone waving excitedly back to him. The start of a journey was always the hardest, but his desire to battle and explore the world around him tasted so sweet.
Only time will tell for Ezra D'Lange.
