One may think that the prospect of three straight weeks of intensive training would be daunting, and if you asked Niko, one would be correct. Sure, it was only one day per week, but he generally did his best to ensure that their sessions at the Dojo were worth the trip. Nonetheless, Xiphos was perfectly content with going for a third trip. A bit surprising, but Niko figured he couldn't really complain. After all, the more opportunities he had to get Xiphos in top shape, the better, right?
Well, for that week's trip to the Dojo, Niko had a simple plan. It may not've been a particularly inventive training regimen, but it seemed like something that'd be enough to tax Xiphos without overwhelming him. He'd already shown himself to be a good climber, and one could be sure that the Dojo had plenty of accommodations for such a Pokemon. On its own, it was just a ramp that became steeper and steeper the closer one was to the top. Considering its size, it was probably meant for a larger Pokemon with appreciable legs, but for Xiphos, it was practically a climbable mountain. The question that arose, then, was obvious: would Xiphos be able to climb to the top of it?

After going quite a while without any substantial training, it seemed that Niko's other Pokemon were beginning to become a tad impatient. Niko figured that made sense, considering how long it'd been since they'd been able to really stretch their muscles. Xiphos seemed raring to go still, though something about him made Niko decide that he could probably use some rest. He'd done well, and really exerted himself, but he didn't need to go week after week, did he?
So, he decided that for the time being, he'd take one of his other Pokemon to the Dojo for that week. Ultimately, he decided on bringing Regent, since she seemed the most eager to get back into the swing of things. Niko supposed that was fair enough, and brought Regent to the Dojo to let her burn off steam.
During the time he'd been training Xiphos, Niko figured out a slight workaround to Regent's blade hands, which made it difficult to handle things without scratching or puncturing them. All he had to do was cover them with something soft, like some styrofoam, and sure enough, Regent's hands were perfectly safe(ish). Before, something like punching a punching bag just wasn't viable, but now? Letting Regent channel her inner boxer was legitimately doable.

Niko actually winning Stunning Stones when he did really threw a wrench into things. Granted, it wasn't like he was against the idea of doing so, but now he had to ask himself what that meant going forward. Would he include her on his team? Well, he wasn't planning on just shelving her. That'd be pretty cruel, considering that the young Duraludon already seemed in poor spirits when he first got her. If anything, putting her on his roster sounded like a pretty solid idea. She had a stellar typing and great potential, so he'd have been silly to disregard her.
So, he ultimately decided to welcome her aboard with open arms, and as a first step, he took her to the Dojo for some training. Shard may not have been all too enthused by the idea, but she seemed receptive enough to give it a go. Perhaps a good training session would get her spirits up? They'd just have to see.
Like Xiphos before her, Niko eased her into things with some time on the treadmill. Going into it, it didn't seem like a bad choice. She could maintain a decent running speed, and she seemed like she was really putting a lot of effort into it. Still, Niko couldn't help but worry about her somewhat unsteady gait.

Despite the great effort she put in during the previous Dojo session, Shard still didn't seem all too happy about it. Was that because of her odd gait, perhaps? Sure, it was worrisome, but she did fine otherwise. To Niko, it seemed that Shard was a bit of a perfectionist, something that didn't exactly bode well for the future. Still, Niko wasn't going to give up on her. He was going to make sure she knew that she didn't have to do perfectly each time for each visit to be worthwhile.
Part of that was bringing her back to the Dojo. Her speed and stamina seemed great, but her strength was still largely unknown to Niko. To remedy this, he took her to a room full of equipment and put her to work. Like his other Pokemon, gripping objects was a difficult task at best, but there were still possibilities that he could see. The cable machine was the main one that stuck out to him, and soon enough, Shard was doing quick and easy reps with nothing but some cables wrapped around her arms. Throughout, Niko offered what he could in terms of encouragement and advice, though whether his assistance would pay off remained to be seen.

Despite her own imperfections and self-doubt, Shard was progressing at a fairly reasonable pace. She wasn't quite on par with the others yet, but she wasn't all too far behind, either. That gave Niko a good bit of confidence that his efforts in training her weren't in vain. They just needed to keep up her training for a little while longer.
There was just the question of what to do. Niko had done a good job up to that point, coming up with various ways for his Pokemon to train, and it'd paid off quite well. Nonetheless, Shard didn't seem too happy with the training she'd received up to that point, wishing to really test her mettle. With this in mind, Niko decided to give her a more intense training session.
She'd already gained the strength to break even sturdy objects with a single strike, so giving her a way to apply that strength only made sense. Luckily, the Dojo provided plenty of things to break, including large stones. Niko wouldn't dare try to break apart a boulder by punching it, lest he injure himself, but for a Pokemon with Rock Smash? It only stood to reason that a Pokemon with such a move would be able to handle such a task.

Niko had recently adopted yet another Pokemon, and though one may see such an action as foolish and unnecessary, he considered it an important part of putting together a solid team. All he had to do was make sure that the newest member of his team could hold her own. From the outset, she seemed decent - about on par with his other Pokemon, even. Unfortunately, she didn't seem like one for fighting in terms of temperament. Nightwing being a kindhearted Pokemon wasn't a problem by any means, but her not seeming to understand the idea of intentionally harming another was.
As it turned out, that attitude also extended to training, with her not understanding Niko's desire to have her attack a simple cardboard cutout.
"What am I supposed to do again?"
"You have to claw at it with your pincers."
"You mean my hands? Why would I do that?"
"It's just a part of your training. Don't worry, the others do this sort of thing all the time."
This reassurance gave Nightwing a bit more confidence in herself, though she still felt a bit guilty thinking about attacking a harmless cutout of an adorable Hoppip. She gave the cutout a light surface scratch. It didn't feel good, but...not terrible, either. Would she be able to go through with the training after all?

Nightwing wasn't able to handle last week's training, and both her and Niko knew it. Try as she might, she couldn't really muster up the strength to do much of anything. Compared to the others, who could have their off days but still generally did their best, it was a stark contrast. Nightwing would need time before doing something like that again.
In the meantime, Shard was looking ready for some more training, as while she was still iffy about some of her mistakes during previous sessions, she was still willing to put in a good effort. She was uncoordinated and indecisive at times, sure, but when she put her mind to it, she was capable of doing some impressive stuff. For one thing, she was pretty damn strong, especially for her young age, with her previous session showing she could break apart stone. The question was, what else could she do? Could she do the same to metal?
That definitely made sense on paper. The Dojo had things made of steel, copper, aluminum, and so on, and though not all of it was meant to be trashed, of course, there was enough to work with, for sure. Crushing metal, leaving large claw marks in it, smashing it into pieces...the possibilities were endless.

Nightwing was once again willing to give training a try, and in preparation, Niko gave some thought as to how to deal with Nightwing's difficulty during her last session. Clearly, she didn't like the idea of attacking, even if it was just an inanimate object, and things kind of derailed as a result. Perhaps, then, what he needed to do to get her to exert herself was to have her do something a bit more innocent.
To this end, he challenged her to a simple ball game. He picked out a nice rubber ball and had Nightwing fly over to the opposite end of the room, which she didn't like much but still did without complaint. From there, the game was simple: Niko would punch or kick the ball towards Nightwing, and she'd have to hit it back. Rinse and repeat. It wasn't much, but he figured she'd agree to go along if it was clear that they were just having fun, and sure enough, she was happy enough with the arrangement. Niko hoped that meant that she'd be able to exert herself a lot more than she did last time. Plus, perhaps such a simple activity would make her more open to different types of training sessions in the future.

Important Info
Season
Good news, Autumn is here! The sticky heat of the summer is finally gone, but the bad news? Its gotten very cold very fast. Berrys have fallen early from their perches, fruit and food is getting caught in snap frosts and icy mornings and this is leading to very cold mornings, pokemon getting desprate quickly and dark and chilly evenings
Next season change ~ May 20th
Swarming Pokemon!
Encouraged Characters
Currently, our character numbers are pretty even, so aside from us gently encouraging more civilians and breeders...go nuts!
Numbers of Gijinka on site have dropped, too, so they're open to be applied for at the moment- though, if you're interested, go check out the adoptable threads for many wanted ones! They could always use players! ;-)
