APPEARANCE
Akiro is about 5'7 with a rather skinny build, average for his age who doesn't work out, other than play outside. He has yellow-brown eyes, spiky black hair that would still spike up should he remove his hat, and his face sometimes comes across as either childish, angry, or cheerful, but no doubt the look of someone very stubborn and bratty. He does have some freckles, though they're more visible up close.
Like many young boys from Kanto, despite hailing from Unova, he wears a cap with a Pokeball logo but mostly wears it backward. He wears a red baseball shirt with white sleeves over a black shirt, black wristbands, and brown-yellow khaki shorts, complete with red hi-tops. It's almost like he's ready for baseball, but that is the standard trainer fashion in Kanto, especially when baseball is popular there. He wears a black sweatshirt under his baseball shirt, blue jeans during cold weather, or a poncho for the rain.

HISTORY
The largest city in Unova is not an easy city to live in. Akiro lived in the somewhat older parts of the city, mainly run-down, but his parents had stable jobs so that they could live in decent apartments. His father works as a cameraman at Pokéstar Studios, while Akiro's mother works an office job at home. There weren’t that many places to play baseball, his favorite sport, except in the streets, which is dangerous, and the older kids hog all the parks. It was pretty much all he could do besides going to school since Akiro didn’t like staying indoors for so long, not when he yearned for one thing…
…to be a Pokémon Trainer like so many kids out there!
It’s what he wanted to be for so long, so he could travel the world and compete in many tournaments and leagues—anything other than being stuck in the city. However, the age requirement to get a trainer license in Unova is stricter than in some regions; in Unova, kids must be 14. He bragged that he was going to be the best trainer, but many of his peers laughed at him since he was considered one of the worst baseball players and he got picked on a lot in school, especially by this one girl who liked to tease him for bragging about being a great trainer. But undaunted by their taunts, Akiro set out to Pokémon School when he became the legal age to be a trainer to acquire his license…
… Unfortunately, he has trouble studying in school, and studying about trainer information and Pokemon is no different. It's much different than knowing about them from all the battles he watched on the internet, and he had less than a week until the license exam.
It was a struggle for him to read up on the books he was given to study, but then his home had a power outage caused by a Pichu gnawing on the wiring. Using a Pokeball he found in his dad's stuff in the attic, he caught it and, in time, learned how to take care of it. This helped him study for the exam by showing him how to care for a Pichu, especially one who didn't like him. But after learning what Pichus wants and how to earn its trust, the Pichu accepted him as its owner.
And with that, he passed the exam, though barely. He managed to score more points on questions about caring for Pokemon. As a reward, his father gave him the choice of three starters, like many Pokemon professors, using Pokemon he got from his job that used them for a film. Though annoyed that his dad wouldn't give him all of them, Akiro chose Charmander.
Unfortunately, the Unova League was over, and the ever-popular regions, like the Kanto region, were too full to take on any gym challengers. But there was a region that was always open for newcomers.
So off he went on a plane to the Shula Region!
