Clover had had quite the stressful day.
Not too long ago, Clover had accidentally run into, and tried to get money from, some rich guy at a Casino in Redshore. Though a simple affair on the outset, she eventually learned that the mark she'd picked was actually Thorn, one of her higher-ups, who was decidedly not taken in by her act. The encounter ended up being a hair-raising learning experience on the importance of carefully picking a mark...though that fact was a bit less important to Clover compared to the fact that she got a fancy limited-edition Amiibo out of the whole debacle. Yeah, it was a weird night, but based on how Thorn handled the whole situation, he seemed fine with her.
He apparently didn't speak for everyone at Team Rocket, though. After some other higher-ups found out, they brought her to HQ to answer some questions. Mostly basic stuff regarding what she was doing there that night, why she approached Thorn, and if she really didn't know who he was. She answered as best she could, doing the best she could to spin things in her favor without just throwing Thorn under the bus, but a good few people still had some reservations, making the whole situation all the more drawn-out. They eventually decided to let her go, advising her to get more acquainted with her fellow Rockets, but the whole thing was just kind of a boring slog that gave Clover a lot more stress than she would've liked. She needed to find a way to blow off some steam while she was still in Oasis City.
Well, for that, going to an arcade seemed like a safe bet, and fortunately, the one she found seemed alright. They had a decent assortment of arcade games - some fancy light-up ones, plus some older stuff in the back - as well as a small dining area, an animatronic band (because why not?), and...a prize corner.
Oh, boy. The last time Clover tried to get something from a prize corner, she nearly got killed by her own boss. Would she really try to get something valuable to her from yet another prize corner? Well, considering the fact that the prize corner was taking tickets rather than chips or whatever, it didn't sound so bad. Plus, it wasn't like she'd end up trying to get tickets out of someone dangerous. Most of the people at the arcade were young kids and their parents. Really, how bad would it be for her to try to get some tickets?
