A dojo… and one that wasn't a gym. Honestly this made much more sense than those over in Kanto and Johto which were just gyms in a new coat of paint… but in that sense, weren't the gyms not traditional gyms as that's where you went to train? In that case, then this dojo was the most real training area that was true to its name.
