The hackles of the dark type rose as the fire type spoke, rolling her eyes and then snapping her jaws at the chicken. "No, im protecting her because i care about her and you are being a brat" she snapped back, her eyes flicking from one female to the other as the fire type spoke to her mate. Morgren seemed to understand the honesty of the torchic, nodding her head to her words, but to Grave and her already annoyed state, it seemed different.

"Sarcasm is not becoming of a lady, according to lars, the good news is im no lady and happy to call out overgrown fire lighters when i see them" the dark type goaded, Morgren sighed softly behind the canine as Lars looked over to Lucas. "Oh that? Thats an aggressive lesbian who assumes shes been slighted and is competitive with other women.....theres no frigging cure for that" the male explained, laughing as he waved a hand over to the ever growing situation.

The fire type which had all of her battles vetted for her, was indulged to the point of being given another living creature to act as a toy-companion, and generally was allowed to do exactly and whatever she wished gasped, GASPED, upon being called a brat. “I am not!” Ember spat.

And, with that, all decency flew out of the window as she lunged for the other with a Growl.

He’d seen that Ember was successfully baited, which was incredibly disappointing. However, he felt a little twinge of pride for Lawrence’s pokemon. Protective of her mate (he assumed) and impossible to ignore in the face of rivals. Hm. Actually, was Ember a rival, or was Morgren just being territorial? The Night man thought it over. While the charmander did take to the idea of having a mate she could breed with, he had noticed she preoccupied herself with the companionship of other girls.

Interesting. A topic to broach later, maybe. And, he’d have to find her someone more suitable than that meowth if that were the case. Perhaps a nice lady totodile or the like. He knew some pokemon tolerated group parenting. (Not that he yet realized he had an example before him.) Maybe that chikorita would be tolerant of the notion…?

“Nothing wrong with being spirited,” he settled on. “Competition’s good for the both of them.”

As the female moved towards her, Grave wasted no time. She pushed herself closer, the females growl being drowned out by her paws shifting under herself and putting herself facing the fire type and pushing her mate backwards. Morgren stumbled in place, being able to stagger back a few steps and catch herself as Grave gave a growl of pain herself, the fire types scratch catching her side.

"Told you so" the dark type snarled, shifting herself to press her paws down hard as she allowed the final syllable to grow, twisting in to a smug, but loud, howl. Moments later, she dove for the other female herself, her side stinging as she moved but her mind focusing that pain in to her jaws, sparks beginning to dance around her fangs as she tried to latch her teeth down on the orange pokemon.

The Thunder Fang ripped through her. The site of the initial bite hurt, but the real zing was the way the electricity danced through her. The charmander didn’t swallow down the pain in the least. She Growled and hissed in pain before leaping away from the dark type.

Determined not to get within easy biting range again, the little dragon built up an ancestral fire in her gut. Blue and yellow flickered in the back of her throat before she spat it out in a short stream of draconic fire. The attack was unique in that it could not increase in power… Nor, could it decrease. It was assured damage as long as it hit.

"Take THAT!"

There it was, not only did her attack hit but the female took a decent amount of pain from it, judging from the noises she let off and it only made the canine grin a little deeper and her face become all the more smug for it. She lowered her ears as she tried to move back from the other female, getting some space to avoid her next attack, only to feel morgren still close behind her.

Making her choice as the orange pokemon spoke, the dark type lowered her head and snarled in pain as the rush of the females attack slammed in to her and felt like it was burning over her shoulder and back. She sucked in a breath, turning the snarl of pain in to a howl once more and then pressing herself in to the ground below her, pushing off hard and trying to bite the other female once more, hoping to snap down her sparking jaws on the females tail as she moved to jump past her this time.

The Thunder Fang ripped through her as fiercely as the anxious anticipation of another loss did. Where this horrible competitiveness had sprung from was anyone’s guess. Her insatiable ego, most likely. But, as it was, it burned her up to stomach the idea of losing. The thought alone had her scales simmering…!

Or, maybe that was her ability. Her bitten tail swished behind her, its flaming growing all the brighter. Her opponent had her on the ropes and was smug for it. Ember couldn’t endure that. Though Lucas had allowed the battle and clearly saw this dark type as an appropriate opponent for her, she couldn’t tolerate the idea of a loss.

So, she spewed forth all of her resentment and wrathful anxiety forward in a ferocious Growl and a Blaze boosted execution of her namesake move.

Lucas observed this with satisfaction. If paralysis or flinching didn’t screw her up, this might make a tidy way to end the match. That is, if her opponent didn’t counter or dodge, too… So many variables!

Her bite still didnt do what she wanted, what she expected. She had landed it now, enough times that there should have been some sort of an effect on the toher female and yet, it was failing her. Grave was aware she was all but done for the moment the other female seemed to go from just looking warm to looking like there was heat rolling off her. The growl the dragon like pokemon gave off made her fur crawl and the dark type dodged to the side of an attack which seemed twice the size and three times the heat of the other moves, now this was a problem.

She knew Kossix had an ability like this, where the closer he got to losing or the more he was backed in a corner, the strong he came out hitting. It had to be something a lot of fire types had then, that made sense. The canine took half a second to suck in a breath and let out another howl, putting all she had in to a final rush to the other fire type. This bite would land her right there, right next to the other female and so if she turned to her with another hot move, the dark type knew she wads done for but at least she would have gone down fighting.
