Derin watched the human settle himself, eyes moving over the man as he spoke and seeming watching the way he formed words before noting the question and pondering for a few moments. "Not for the longest time, we never quite saw eye to eye when i was younger, but with some events as of late and some situations now going on..." the man answered, pausing for a moment as he seemed to take a few moments to think again.

"A father can know things a child cannot, and while this also works in reverse, we are trying to make an effort now things are a little clearer between us" the male explained after a good few moments of quiet, the smallest of smiles beginning to grow over his face. With that, he turned his head slowly, looking out over the water of the lake and seemingly looking for something for a long while.

Niko politely nodded along with Derin's words, not having full context of what the Gijinka was explaining but feeling as though he understood him otherwise. Derin and his father were apparently seeing eye-to-eye, which sounded like a great development - familial disagreements weren't exactly pleasant, after all. However, it sounded like this development was occurring as a result of...something. Niko wasn't sure what, since Derin didn't say, but it sounded like it'd have to be pretty troublesome in order to bridge the gap between them.

Niko took a moment to follow Derin's gaze as he looked out over the lake. To his eyes, it seemed like a pretty still and uneventful environment, but perhaps the Gijinka could sense something he couldn't. In any case, he couldn't help but wonder about the man's relationship with his father. He imagined it'd have to be fairly interesting, to say the least.

"Good to hear you two are on speaking terms. What kind of things are you sharing with each other? Is it advice, or news, or...?"

Derin gave a wry smile as the human spoke again, turning to him and shifting one shoulder a little before he spoke. "Im learning about my mother, i outlived her by quite a ways so learning, who she was before she was my mother is a curious story to hear. Im learning more about his life, about others he knew as a younger beast and he's learning about the beast i was as a younger man" the male answered, tilting his head to one side a little as he spoke.

"Anger blackens the soul, makes it hard to see and hard to do much but stumble in the darkness. Unfortunately, i've had to learn this the hard way, and my choices are still looming behind me, or, their consequences at least" the man explained after a long pause, shaking his head slowly as he sighed softly. He would out grow them, humans lived a lot less time than his own kind and his father after all, but for now, he'd effected a lot more lives than his own in his rage.

With Derin's explanation, Niko felt like he was beginning to piece things together, though the implications of his words made the officer frown solemnly. From the sound of things, the strange Gijinka had been rather angry in the past. What he'd been angry about was still vague, but whatever it was, it'd led to some rather regrettable things, which Niko felt like he understood quite well.

"You've done some things you now regret," Niko surmised. "I know what that's like. I've done a good few things I've regretted myself, and, uh...I'll admit, it's pretty hard coping sometimes. At the very least, I'd say you're lucky to have someone to talk to about that."

Niko felt like he could've stopped there, but at that point, there were still a lot of details that weren't quite there yet. The man was learning all these things from his father, and yet he still hardly knew a thing about said father. Would it be overstepping his bounds to ask a more direct question about his dad? Maybe a little bit, but the topic would have to come up sooner or later, surely.

"Your father sounds like someone's who's had an interesting life," he commented. "What was he like back then? Hell, what's he like now?"

Derin gave a small smile as Niko spoke again, nodding his head to his words slowly. "I think everyone has" he said simply, allowing the man to keep speaking and listening to him. "Your regrets, did they effect you? Do they effect you now? Or others?" the man questioned as Niko paused, his eyes curious as he looked in to the eyes of the other trainer before the man spoke again and Derin seemed to catch himself, adjust and lean back a little.

"He was a free spirit, traveling across the world to see what it could offer him and what was different from here to there. He met many people, took many partners, but fell in love only once" the man explained, his words a little disjointed as he answered. "Now he is an older man, moving tires him and his heart hurts from being alone, something he allowed to turn him bitter for a time, but he regrets that now" the gijinka went on, turning his head to look in to the water of the lake as he spoke this time, eyes watching the ripples dance across the surface.

Niko found himself hesitant to reply to Derin's questioning. He made a fair point - it was safe to say that everyone had some things they regretted - but even still, being asked about his own gave him pause and made him visibly self-conscious. Perhaps, he thought, Derin felt similarly when he asked him about himself. If so, this could've had something to do with why Derin wasn't being too forthright about himself.

"I can't say they don't affect me now," Niko admitted after some time. "Less so than initially, of course, but I still think about them sometimes. And, I'm sure for some people, these...regrettable things would be even harder to ignore."

Niko looked over to Regent for a moment, who seemed to be stopping herself from saying something or other. Obviously, she had some regrets, too, but...well, for some time, they'd been weighing heavily on her, he could sense. He figured she didn't want to linger on the topic of regrets for too long, so he was quick to latch onto their previous topic.

"That sounds like an interesting life to me," Niko said, his hunch now affirmed. "Still, I'm sorry to hear that he's not quite what he used to be. Perhaps he'd feel a little bit better if he tried meeting people again. It's never too late for that sort of thing, isn't that right?"

Derin winced, for the first time an obvious movement, as the other male spoke before he seemed to catch himself and then nod slowly to the mans words. "I feel similarly about my own actions, and choices" he said, turning to look back to the water before he let out a soft sound, it wasnt quite a moan or a sigh, but something between the two which didnt seem to quite mix.

"The problem is my actions are about to effect a lot of people, and cause a lot of issues and harm, i suspect, and theres nothing i can do to fix that anymore" he went on, focusing on the mans next words as he spoke and giving a wry smile before looking back to the trainer and shaking his head. "Early on, that was a suggestion, but its not a possibility" he answered simply, not sure if it was his place to go in to why that was his answer, or his fathers, or not.

As Derin spoke, Niko found himself feeling a little worried about what he was alluding to. The Gijinka having made decisions that'd harmed people made sense to him - as Derin had pointed out himself, just about everyone could say that - but the idea that his actions would come back to harm people in the future was odd, and more than a little foreboding. This, on top of his claim that his father couldn't meet with anyone else in his condition, painted a bleak picture in Niko's mind.

He let out a light grumble in frustration. Was this another situation where he was walking in on something that couldn't be helped? He didn't like to think that all that was really true, but he wasn't getting much indication of the opposite.

"If you're so certain that people are going to be harmed," Niko wondered aloud, "then what do you plan on doing? Will you be dealing with the fallout of whatever's coming?"

Derin knew that was coming, the question still hung in the air and he seemed worried to answer it before he gave a deep sigh, lowered his head, and the shrugged and looked back in to the other mans eyes. "I cant stop it now. Once heard, a bell can never be un-rung as i have been told several times as of late. The person who once said and did such things is long gone, long dead or replaced as the words say, but their attacks left scars and said scars are going to be an issue" the male lamented as he explained, shaking his head before he held out a hand to the other man.

"I cannot help, i think i would only make it worse truth be told, but i warned someone and i think thats a good start. All the same, the person i seem to have told appears to be one with a uniform, a uniform suggests humans banding together against an issue, or to cause one, so which side are you?" he asked, hand hanging in the air as some sort of unspoken, rather cryptic, offer it seemed.

Derin already hadn't been too clear about what he'd done, or what was coming, but as he continued to explain things, Niko only found himself even more perplexed. Obviously, whatever had been done couldn't be undone, if Derin's words were any indication, but the way he talked about it, it sounded like there was nothing he could do to improve the situation at all. Quite the pessimistic outlook, that was for sure, but Niko supposed that could very well have been an accurate view of things. After all, if anyone understood the situation better, it was Derin, right?

At the very least, he'd apparently warned someone else, which Niko figured was the best thing he could do if he couldn't improve things himself. And if they were really wearing a uniform, as Derin claimed, that sounded like they could help quite a bit...But then again, he thought, they could also make things quite a bit worse.

"Well, I actually wear a uniform myself," Niko explained. "I'm a police officer, so my colleagues and I try to deal with issues that others cause. That being said, I know some uniformed folk in this region can cause issues...Very, very big issues. If you're willing to let me help, I'd be happy to get as many of us onboard as possible."

The gijinka listened as the human spoke, taking in the explanation and then tilting his head from side to side. "That is, what im requesting" the male clarified in his next breath, waving a hand over the shape of the man in front of him. "I have given you a warning, as much as it fair within my merit and does not bring issues back to my own door, and i trust you will use it" the man went on, sighing a little as he admitted his own wrongs.

It was after this, a quiet fell between the two men and the gijinka turned back to the water. Looking out over it, he watched the ripples of the wind and the movement of the water types below it before giving a small wry smile, "It is human custom to honey a gesture like this, to offer something when asking for work, is it not?" the male questioned, slowly kneeling down again, reaching his hand back out to the cool water of the lake as he spoke.

So, Derin was already expecting him to take his warnings to heart? That made sense, Niko supposed, otherwise he probably wouldn't've felt the need to share such information in the first place. Still, he couldn't help but wonder how well he'd be able to convince others that the warning was worthwhile at all. "I'll be sure to share your warning, if that's what you want," Niko said, nodding his head. "With some luck, I imagine we can make some difference, at least."

Niko glanced down at the water in front of them, but could only see so much through the dimming light, at least with his human senses. Still, with how Derin returned to his original position, his hand in the water, he could only imagine what he'd be doing next.

He gave the Gijinka a look of intrigue. "I suppose it is. Are you offering me something? If so, I'll gladly accept it."

Derin nodded to the other man at his first comment, keep quiet and listening to his next ones before letting out a soft sigh. "I hope so, you humans, and some of my lesser kin, have done great work against some of these people in the past so i can only hope this helps" he said in a low voice, seemingly thinking out loud for a moment before he turned his focus back to the water.

He went quite again, allow a small time to pass as the human spoke and then remaining still, very much as he was before the other man arrived, before he pulled his hand back from the water. It didnt drip, it seemed entirely dry actually but the man broke in to a soft smile, something warmer than before. "I am offering you nothing" he replied, turning his gaze to look out over the lake.

A lake which was now, glowing a very slight, and soft, blue as if there was a light below it.

Though there might've been some confusion for Niko, he could at least say with confidence that he could get behind Derin's cause. Even without specifics, he felt he had an idea of what the Gijinka was referring to. His kin, fighting against people...Niko had an inkling, and based on how she was giving Derin her undivided attention, Regent must've had an inkling as well.

Still, they couldn't dwell on that matter for too long, as Derin would eventually turn away from them again and towards the lake. Niko didn't think much of this action at first...but then the lake began emitting an odd glow. "What the...?" he whispered to himself, unsure of what he was seeing. Immediately, Regent went into a defensive stance, as if attempting to shield Niko from whatever was happening. Niko wanted to appreciate this precaution, but at that very moment, he wasn't sure it was necessary.

A WILD POKEMON APPEARED


Gender - Male / Ability - Multiscale / Level - Unknown / Moves - Gust, Dragon Rush, Weather Ball, Whirlwind, Unknown, Giga Drain

The glow in the water was faint, looking like the first rays of the morning sun at first but the way Derin was watching it, the way his eyes didnt shift from the light and then darted to the side of it, only for a small light to begin there, seemed to show this was very much a deliberate thing. As moments passed, seconds moved in to minutes and slowly progressed, soon the entire lake was beginning to glow faintly and then in a pulse of a darker blue, it was gone.

The water just in front of the gijinka broke as a head rose from it, moving up slowly in to the air as Derin leaned back and the gijinka turned slowly to face the other trainer as the pokemon kept rising from the water. It seemed dry, nothing rolling from it as it rose, but its eyes focused in on Niko before the pokemon came to rest, floating above the lakes surface as Derin moved a hand between the pair. "Niko, Father. Father, Niko"
