“You don’t know Godfrey?!” the little ghost exclaimed. “Oh, you’ve got to read more research papers! He’s brilliant! The first person research he does is simply phenomenal! Why, that wonderful mind of his is the only reason I didn’t try tricking him into drinking from me way back when we fir—”

Whoa. The sinistea was still going on and on. Now that it was awake, it was really a chatterbox!

“—which brought us here to the desert. I’ve got to get back to him. He’ll need these notes to confirm the existence of a fabled poochyena variant! Though, I admit, I’m surprised you’ve heard of them if you haven’t heard of that dear boy.”

That slumber had clearly been for a long, long time. The sinistea floated up higher, spotting the distant lights of a city. That was promising. He tugged on the straps of the bag. Yeah, he could pull that back. It’d take some time, but what did the undead have if not time?

☽ Luna Sallow ☾ ☠ There's two sides to every story ☠ Luna raised an eyebrow as the words began to spill, this pokemon it seemed was better stoppered up but as it kept going and going, she picked up a few things. Seemed the bag belonged to some researcher and whoeever they were, they tended to work on their lonesome and were good at their job. After that, it was a lot more rattling off and waffling and the gijinka took in a low breath, lifting her helmet up to place it on her head partly to muffle out the sound, and partly because then she had something to do with herself. "You asked, you deal with it" she replied to the water type, the male frowning at the offer before he held up his paws as the ghost type seemed to finally pause. "Erm, how long you been out here? Im not super well versed in other pokemon species and types, but the gym leader in Mossrock City has one of those mud throwing puppies. Hes quite talented by all accounts, we are working out a plan for their battle one day, on the back burner" the male found himself explaining, his tone a little awkward as he went on.. “Well, I’m sure I’ve only been out—A GYM LEADER HAS ONE?! HE’S GOT PUPS?!”

The sinistea sank down like a deflated balloon. “Oooh,” it moaned miserably. “He turned in the report without me…? I suppose its my fault, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be caught yet and a pokeball’s so much lighter than a bag…” The porcelain face contorted in misery. “I was hoping he might get a nice seal for me, one of those imports from Sinnoh, if he ever asked me again if I was ready to be caught. … I wanted to meet his snorlax.”

The wild pokemon floated once more, though this time barely above the ground. Some of the higher bits of sand were ‘kicked’ out of its way. “Oh dear… I was asleep for a long time. A very long time. I missed so much…!”

It seemed to be trying to go on its way. It was chatting the whole time it was doing it, but it was making slow progress regardless. It might wander off and get out of earshot if Luna and Minnow let it… If they wanted, that is. Maybe it might be fun (or something) listening to it basically complain to itself.

Both looked at one and other as the pokemon spoke, Minnow quickly reddening while Luna gave her own sigh and knelt down. "I dont know about the pup thing, i think so, but its not a pokemon im a fan of so im unsure. Theres a girl out there breeding a lot of pups though, so maybe" she started, trying to ease in to the conversation as best as she could. "If you wanted to join him, why not, do it?" Minnow asked beside her, looking over the ghost type, "Sounds like a nice enough guy, you seem to have a lot in common" the male went on before luna laughed softly. The water type turned to her, crossing his arms for effect as he glared at her before she rolled her eyes. "So us, when we got started?" she asked, the male opening his mouth to reply before he closed it slowly, lowering the paw he had raised as she began to spoke. Turning back to the ghost type, luna gave a small smile. "If you still wanna meet him, im sure i can track him down for you. I have some regional pokemon myself, i bet going to ask more about them and if your guy really knows all this stuff, he might be someone they point me to. We could take you, give you to him, you two could be research partners" the gijinka thought out loud, ideas bouncing together in her mind and spilling from her mouth as she spoke. The idea intrigued the sinistea. It had become rather fond of Godfrey. The young researcher was brave and smart. That was just the sort of person that the sinistea could see itself spending the rest of their life with. (The sinistea would, of course, outlive whatever trainer it got. One of those ghostly things…) This duo were right. It couldn’t pass up on this opportunity. Nodding, it dragged the bag with it back over to Luna and Minnow.

“I’d really appreciate it. And, I know this desert fairly well. If I could assist you, please let me know. I’m no leech.”

Funny thing for a pokemon whose species was known to lay in wait to prey on others to say, but it was sincere none the less. The sinistea couldn’t help with terribly much, but it could offer its experience and wisdom to those who helped it in turn.

"Ok, so im not gonna do the bit and throw you in a pokeball but we were out here for training. Well, we were out here to find someone, but thats worked and right now, i dont wanna overload him so training for a cool off. Then we head to town, i ask to find an expert on regional pokemon, and we find you your guy, sound good?" the trainer thought out loud, shifting herself to kneel down so she was closer to the height of the ghost type. "No fooling, im not keeping you as one of mine, even for a bit. I got a lot of ghosts and i know how that goes, but im more than happy to help pair you up" she explained, a little slower this time. Behind her, refusing to give up his find, Minnow curled a paw around his kettle and began to glance around again. Luna had this in hand, right? He could get back to exploring again, surely. Well, that was all a relief! And, her request was fairly easy to follow through on. “You’re very kind,” it said. It was about then that it saw the kettle. It was about to say something about it being Godfrey’s, realized it had been out here for a while, and that he’d likely replaced it. If these fine folks liked it so much, the sinister was sure it could keep its mouth shut when it met up with the researcher again.

“If that’s the case, I’ll wait here until you’ve had your fill. This isn’t very easy to drag…” It floated a little higher, trying to get its bearings. “Oh, yes, I remember. Let’s see… Head out that way, about to where you see the cactus, and you should run into something willing to battle. It was a, ah, meet up spot.” Then, it swiveled. “Over there… There were some very energetic rock types. They nest near the ruins. Not in them proper, but, well…” It floated a little lower again.

“There’s my suggestions. Good luck in battle!”

☽ Luna Sallow ☾ ☠ There's two sides to every story ☠ Luna smiled softly before turning her head to the ghost type, "Hey, we'll meet you here either when we are done or when it gets too hot to keep going. Shouldnt be too long" she replied to the pokemon, pausing as she for a moment wondered if she should refer to it as male or female before she caught herself. "Hey, i heard battling, lets get going. Maybe that brother of yours can show off what hes got" the water type chimed from the top of the dune he was on, shaking the kettle in his paws and earning a sigh from his trainer. "You should leave that, its not yours" luna said as she followed the directions of the ghost type to this "meeting point", smirking as she spoke to minnow. "And he aint needed it for a while clearly, and its useless, so now its mine and i like the noise" the male countered quickly, moving to catch pace beside his trainer. He grinned as he walked, waiting for a little while and letting quiet landed between the duo before he took his shell out and began to tap it against the kettle for each step he took, a smug grin on his face as he did so as he watched lunas eyes roll, but she didnt comment on the matter. A few pokemon took off at the sound of Minnow’s new instrument, but clearly none of them were the contenders that might meet Luna at the cactus. In fact, the spot was rather lonesome. It was just desert out here. The occasional stone could be seen not so far off, but this tall cactus was the most interesting feature. It was a spot of green in a sea of beige and red.

But, oh, it didn’t seem like the two would have to wait for someone to come for long! Or, at all, depending on their pace. Working dutifully, something rolled their way. It was brown! … A lot of shades of brown. Super circular. Monotonous thing, wasn’t it?

It wasn’t until the sphere was at their feet that the thing which had been pushing it would jump up and reveal himself.

“Oh, good! I thought I saw someone already here,” he greeted. He held out a sand covered hand, realized it was dirty, and grinned apologetically. He took his tiny hand back, dusting it off on a leg. “Ahaha, ignore that. Anyways, ya lookin’ to battle? ‘Cause, I’m rarin’ to go! One on one, no items! … Or, maybe items! Listen, I’m not picky.”

☽ Luna Sallow ☾ ☠ There's two sides to every story ☠ Luna soon found herself mentally wandering, eyes scanning over the area around and in front of her to find sand, sand and more sand as she moved. Even the odd rock or pebble became a welcome sight since they were less common than the brown underfoot, this meaning when she saw something varying in color, her pace quickly sped up to head in the direction of the flash of green. It seemed the cactus itself wasnt much, the trainer half expected it to be some pokemon or something the way today had gone but as she turned to Minnow and was about to comment on him giving up his new item, she found him lagging behind a little and raised an eyebrow. "You dont have to be the one to do this ya know" she called over, the male moving over to her in a time and then rolling his eyes. "If its something i can handle well, i'll do it. If its something someone else does, they can and i'll sit out. This heat is insane, even now" the male replied, Luna looking past him as he spoke at what seemed to be an arriving pokemon. Allowing it to get close, then smirking as it spoke, she nodded to the pokemon and Minnow turned to greet it with a wave. "We tend to have items but if you'd prefer we dont, thats fine" the pokemon admitted, digging in behind his shell to pull out the berry he carried before nodding to the bug pokemon, letting it have the choice. Oh, they were sure friendly! The Rellor thought it over. In the end, he shrugged. “Eh, listen, beggars can’t be choosers. Gotta get strong enough to travel one way or another! Keep your item! Consider it a good gesture from your good pal here!” With that, he jumped back into a hand stand atop his ball of gathered sand and psychic energy. He was quite the nimble little fellow!

“Who’s goin’ first? You, me? I’m down for whatever! Just tryna get these battles in!” He spoke in a friendly enough manner, but there was a coarse edge to it. The bug type wasn’t a rookie, but he also wasn’t some jaded jerk. A pleasant, friendly battle awaited Minnow if he chose to participate. Maybe a bit of an impatient participant, what with that fast talking and a lack of a real introduction, but hey! This was a meet-up spot! Attack, win, move on! Desert living!

☽ Luna Sallow ☾ ☠ There's two sides to every story ☠ Luna listened as the pokemon chattered, quietly noting to herself that it was nice to meet a wild pokemon who seemed to chipper but then maybe that was because she was allowing herself to think they could be. All the same, as it and minnow spoke back and forth, the water type moved over to her and settled his kettle down in front of her feet before wandering back to face across from the other male. "Sounds like a plan, but i also am going for evolution so, wont be going easy on ya" the water type called over, pulling the shell from his chest and rolling it in his palm for a moment, the shell glowing red for a few seconds before he then turned his head to the other pokemon and let out a blast of water in its direction. In the next second, he pushed off the sand below him, swiping his tail through the water since it seemed gaining water from the air here was harder work than this route, moving to try and smack the bug with his water covered tail. 160/160 - +2 Atk MINNOW USED SWORDS DANCE MINNOW USED AQUA TAIL - 90BP + 16 (STAB) + 10 (+2ATK) = 116P Persian

An evolution? Must be one of those level up types. Lucky, the rellor thought. But, as he’d said before, beggars couldn’t be choosers. “No hard feelings either way!”

At least… Yeesh! The rellor was going to try not to harbor any hard feelings! What was that movement?! He fell off his dirt ball, though quickly sank the barbs of his legs into it to keep it from rolling off, as the Aqua Tail struck! He couldn’t handle another one of those! No way!

“Ya sure ya aren’t already primed for it?” he joked, doing his best to keep the atmosphere light as he gathered a mystic energy to himself. It braced him for future attacks, not that he hoped to handle too many more of those. After, he sprang right for his opponent! He’d sink his teeth right into the water type’s fur if he could!

"Hey, i been working hard, doesnt mean im there yet but means im sure as heck no push over" he called back, pausing as he noticed the bug types move. He didnt know that one, or, he hadnt seen it used quite like that if he did, though his marvelling left him far too open. Learning this the hard way as the pokemon bite him, he watched the berry he had been holding disappear from his grip and then blinked. Wait, what? A move could work that way? Man, he needed one of those! This guy had a good attitude. The rellor appreciated it. He’d met some real characters in his travels. But, he had to focus on the battle at hand! Especially since he’d gotten a real juicy morsel. Mm! Can’t get good eating like that out here in the desert!

Stunned by the sudden sweetness on his tongue, the rellor was left wide open for Minnow’s speedy attack. Once again, he cried out and struggled to balance atop his ball after the attack. He could hardly tell the difference between the moves, unfamiliar with water types as he was, and assumed the lack of the berry had weakened his opponent.

Nice, nice. He was still in a risky spot, but, hey, one more round! For the road!

In fact… Yeah! That might work! Balancing atop his ball of mud and psychic energy, the bug type willed it to become more rigid and rock-like. Then, he kicked off. A Rollout was headed for his opponent!
