Holly A. Linn
FC - Kae Midorikawa from the Anime Takunomi.
NAME Holly Anne Linn | AGE Twenty-four |
OCCUPATION Civilian | HOMETOWN Cinnebar Island, Kanto |
GENDER/SEXUALITY Asexual | PLAYED BY Cricket |
PERSONALITY
POSITIVE TRAITS: • Extremely Curious - Her love for asking questions is second only to her love for finding answers. She's curious about most things, especially biological topics, but if you find her special interests (bugs, photography) she can talk your ear off. • Friendly - She was born on an island, where knowing everyone was no large feat. But that sociable atmosphere made her unafraid to approach others. She's not shy, and assumes strangers are friends until proven otherwise. • Enthusiastic - Gung-ho about every endeavor she partakes in. She's chipper and excited, even if the going gets tough. • Optimistic - Things will go great. And when they're not going great, then things will get better. • Smart - Book smart, specifically. Reading a lot and asking a lot of questions will do that. She knows a lot about the biological word specifically, especially bug-type Pokemon, as well as the way they fit into food webs. • Tenacious- Could also be a con depending on if you're on the other end or not, but she's stubborn and persistent, and will read or do what she needs to, or annoy who she needs to to get what she wants. | NEGATIVE TRAITS: • Culture Shock - She was raised on an island, so big cities and even blatantly city people sometimes leave her feeling out of her element and awkward. She has misguided perceptions of how social interactions should work based on her life on the island. For example, if someone doesn't approach and talk to her, she thinks them very rude, even if socially it's the norm. • Observer - In a lot of cases, such as natural predation or interesting observations of natural suffering of any sort, Rowan will let nature take its course. She will not only refuse to save the Cutiefly from the Spinarak, she will probably have 1,000 photos of the ordeal by the end of it. This might make her seem cruel, but in truth she has great respect for nature and while she wants to coexist and learn about it, she doesn't want to meddle too much. • Naive - Since everything is always going to work out all the time, she is incredibly surprised when it doesn't. • Bad at Conflict - She will shut down and probably cry if someone starts to yell at, or lecture her. She's the absolute worst at arguments, and is completely incapable of thinking of clever comebacks. But if you give her time to brew on it, she'll come back with a vengeance. Now she might still cry as she attempts to verbally destroy the offender, but she'll feel better at least. And if you ask her, that's all that matters. This is completely disregarded if she feels extremely passionately about something. • Imperceptive - If you do not say your thoughts and feelings out loud, she will not notice them. |
LIKES • BUGS • Books • Experiments (usually not proper ones) • Witnessing rare natural phenomena • Photography | DISLIKES: • Pollution/Littering/Environmental unfriendliness • Big cities • People who hate bugs • Cold environments • Massive disturbances of the natural order |

APPEARANCE
Holly is a small woman, coming up at only 5'2. She is thin, which is part of why she hates cold places as much as she does. She dyed her hair green only recently, mostly to annoy her parents though she's come to really enjoy it. Most of the time, her hair is relatively short to make it easier to work with, though she lets it grow past her shoulders sometimes if she's in the mood for something different.
She looks bookish, with her glasses and cozy attire. She spends most of her time in sweaters (always cold) and leggings, though she's partial to skirts as well. She has a wide range of earrings, oftentimes featuring her favorite Pokemon or earthy vibes like feathers and leaves.
Her eyes are a very light brown/amber color. She's a human, so no Pokemon features.

HISTORY
Holly had always been a curious kid, her eyes always set on the Cinnabar Lab, which many of the inhabitants of her island worked at. For being so isolated from the mainland, the general population in Cinnabar Island had a respect for Pokemon, and the research being done to help understand and protect them. Holly had always been interested in working in that lab. Her parents would tell her that, for as long as she'd been alive, she'd wanted to be a scientist, and that passion never swayed.
Her parents were as supportive of her dreams as they were protective. They were thrilled when she opted out of acquiring her first Pokemon at 10, not wanting her to venture away from the small town as many did. Back then, Holly believed pokemon training was as far from the natural order as it got. After all, what was more destructive than sending out literal children with their 'mons to terrorize wild Pokemon trying to live their lives? The love for science, and the drive to one day work in the lab lead Holly to acquire an internship there as a high schooler, studying a fossil Pokemon called Anorith. It was the Anorith in the lab that first piqued her interest in bug Pokemon, creating a fixation for them that she would not ever be able to shake, long into adulthood. Her time studying the fossil Pokemon in Cinnabar was short-lived. Due to volcanic activity on Cinnabar Island, she and her family were evacuated to the mainland. They had to leave everything behind, but what devastated Holly the most was the destruction of the lab she'd grown up idolizing. Never one to let the bad keep her down long, she was able to secure a temporary position at the Pewter Museum of Science in their fossil exhibit, though she felt more like a museum guide than a scientist. Growing increasingly frustrated in her position, Holly began to fantasize about going out into the world and pursuing her own path of knowledge and research.
Holly never felt at home in Pewter City, and was eager to get out once she reached adulthood. As far as she was concerned, the best thing to happen to her in that city was finding Bait, her Surskit, named because it reminded her of the bobbers used while fishing, and she liked to (playfully) threaten to use it to catch a bigger, stronger Pokemon. Their relationship had formed organically while she was out at her favorite pond, and eventually developed enough for her to properly capture and keep him. Against her own moral code, of course, though she quickly learned the value of their friendship. The scientific value, with her making observations she never would have made without acquiring him.
With overly-protective parents, Holly felt compelled to start her own adventure. She keeps a journal, which she ambitiously believes will be filled with all the rare observations and scientific knowledge she'll procure in her travels. Choosing where to go came easy: She wanted to be somewhere quiet, with more wildlife than people. Shula has a reputation for less tech, more nature which was right up her alley. She's never been a big city girl, after all. While her family was not living in poverty by any means, it took most of what she had to head to the Shula region, where she hopes to make epic discoveries and have plenty to write home about.
