APPEARANCE
Despite standing at a towering Six foot Five inches, Seely Clive always has a calm expression on his face, rarely showing anything other then a relaxed smile. With his long red hair and unshaven face he can often give the impression that he doesn't care or that he doesn't put effort into his appearance which can make first impressions often negative, however this could not be further from the truth, in his mind shaving less and paying for fewer haircuts allows him to save money, money he can send home or put into his clothes to try and look smart and respectable although never having enough to buy anything that could be considered posh or expensive. He sticks to coloured shirts with dark trousers, a cheap way to look smart although he never irons his clothes so they are always accompanied with creases and usually a stain hidden somewhere. His Brown eyes are the picture of calm maturity, and yet in one blink they can transform into a piercing glare, enough to silence many a tantrum'ing child or immature adult.
HISTORY
Seeley Clive was born and raised in Celadon City, a bustling shopping metropolis. He was never the most accomplished kid in school, always falling into the lower percentile with grades and excelling at physical education and School finished with the expected unimpressive grades but along the way he managed to find something much more important, his high school sweet heart whom he later went on to marry and have a beautiful daughter with.
The young lady in question was named Temperance Dreyar and was top of her class in nearly every subject, natural beauty and a complete bookworm, the opposite to Seeley in every way, she went on to law school and to a highly successful job, all the way allowing him to live a comfortable lifestyle with a basic laborers job. In his early thirties he was greeted by a jubilant wife one morning with the news that they were to have a child, and later that year their daughter was born, young Christine Clive or "CeeCee" as they affectionately call her.
Christine unfortunately was never a healthy child, always needing some form of tablets or injections to battle away illnesses that she would accrue, and the bills started piling up and up for the Clive family, as well as the time needed looking after young Christine. Seeley was always a loyal honest hardworking man but his knowledge when it comes to children was very limited and he often didn't choose the best options when it came to his daughter, whether it be what they should eat, or how they should play. His best intentions were often met with a screaming wife running towards them telling christine to stop hanging upside down on banister with Seeley and Christine both asking why, with innocently confused expressions.
It was because of this that Temperance felt she had to leave her work to stay at home with her, her daughters illness compiled with her stressful job was running her into the ground and despite Seeleys best intentions he just couldn't quite fill the job his wife wanted him to do at home.
A decision was made between them that Temperance would stay at home and Seeley would work as many hours as he could to try and get the money needed for the medical bills and mortgage.
Another year passed with the Clive families savings depleting at a steady rate, Seeley just could not find regular work that paid high enough to support the family on his own, manual labor jobs often lasted weeks or months and then it would be a month before he could find another, and so the difficult decision was made to sell their family home and downsize to build up some more funds, they both agreed that they should move away from kanto to a cleaner air environment and with more job possibilities and after much thought and sleepless nights, they both settled on the region of Shula.
An old contact in Kanto had given him a number for a friend in Shula that could help him find paid work, and after a few weeks of searching unsuccessfully himself he decided to give it a go and rang the man. Almost instantly he was given a job, one that he was told would be incredibly lucrative and allow him to travel the whole region, he wasn't too keen on the travelling part as it would mean being away from Temperance and Christine but if it meant his wife could stay at home and look after his daughter without fear of money, he would do it in a heartbeat.
The job seemed perfect, all he had to do was catch pokemon and give them to this man, Seeley would get a finders fee and the man would send them to smaller villages far away from pokemon professors so that kids who were not able to go pick their starters could still get a pokemon, Seeley loved the idea, Christine had missed the chance to pick a starter pokemon when she had turned 10, she was far too ill and couldn't travel, imagine if someone had caught her a pokemon from far away and sent it to her it would have made her year! And Seeley would be doing that for hundreds of kids around the whole region. A high paying job that he could feel good doing whilst supporting his family seemed the perfect situation.
Obviously the first problem was that Seeley didn't actually own a pokemon, his family had had one when he was a kid, a little furret that would run around the house playing with anyone it could, great to have around but a terrible guard pokemon, more likely to play with the burglar then fend him away from the property. He'd always had an affinity for the friendlier pokemon, tough ones are great but battling is such a small part of journeying with pokemon, you need to get on with them, be friends with them, so he decided to sign up for his very first starter pokemon, at the ripe old age of 41 and he promised himself that any pokemon he took on, or caught for himself would be friendly, so that when he returned home with hundreds of stories for christine, he could show her the pokemon that shared those stories and not have to worry about scaring her, then when she's better he can help her start her own pokemon journey no matter how long it took to get there, even if she was as old as 41.
On the plus side he'd probably be able to reach over the 10 yr olds to get the pokemon he wanted first...
