Level - Gender - Ability - Moves - The Mossrock Forest was as lush and lively as one could hope it to be. Grass-types, among other Pokemon, meandered through the surrounding thicket, either in search of food or for their own personal reasons. All the while, various Bug-types scuttled below their feet, and above the land-bound forest denizens, various birds, tree climbers, and flying insectoids made their nests among the thick branches. It was a remarkably tranquil locale, free from many of the more unpleasant or cutthroat aspects of nature, at least for the time being. Even the summer’s humidity had dissipated noticeably compared to days prior, the midday’s heat bringing a refreshing dryness.
Chris smiled. It was all too perfect for his purposes.
He examined the specimen that’d been provided to him. It was an odd creature, one that he wasn’t all too familiar with, though he could at least say he was impressed with its size. For its breed, it was practically a giant. It also boasted some formidable elemental capabilities, which he was certainly glad for, as it was what made his plan possible in the first place. All Chris needed to do was give the command, and its true power would be unleashed on the helpless forest denizens. Said prospect was enticing, to say the least…too much so for him to be able to find a reason not to begin right away.
“You’re up, big guy,” he said, pointing to a nearby pair of Tangela. To their misfortune, they’d chosen to loiter around within the man’s presence, and against such a behemoth of a Pokemon, they didn’t last long. Quite the display of brutality, and not the last one of the day.
The monster and its handler began carving a path of destruction through the forest, any creature unfortunate enough to be caught by them being demolished. Trees were felled, wild Pokemon were forced to flee from the overwhelming onslaught, and along the way, residual flames from the behemoth’s rampage lingered for a little too long in the overgrown environment and spread at a rapid pace. The forest was being slowly set ablaze over the course of the rampage, and if the thing wasn’t stopped, it would only get worse.
(Players, it’s your turn up to bat! Post below as your characters become involved in the calamity. Roll at the end of your posts, and you may be able to catch a glimpse of the monster causing the destruction.)

Milarnie "Arnie" Colt Me, spoilt? I just know what I want....
Mila was in the forest because she was being screwed over, and she was mad about it. She was meant to have a ride home, a pokemon she could get back to the city and made sure she was warm and fed and comfy the entire ride there and yet it seemed the photographer or whoever she had spent the day modeling for didnt even bother with that much!
Walking through the forest was below her, she missed the sun of the city and the warmth of the sand! Lena was in the arms of the gijinka, the pair of them whining backwards and forwards between each other about the nasty forest and all the things they disliked about it until Mila felt her shoulders roll. It was warm. She looked around herself in time to see a series of forest pokemon running at her, the woman diving to the side of the path and pressing herself to a tree as her eyes flee on the forest behind her, burning in bright oranges and reds, and rushing in her direction. | URDGhzpf |

Emeline was off the clock, trying to keep a low profile given her struggle with anger and temper. She needed to keep them in check. There was nothing she could do about it, but at least she could see and hear again. They were walking in the forest, trying to find Hunts since this was where his home is when it seemed like hell decided to break loose. No longer a simple walk in the forest, both the ranger and her Brionne headed towards the chaos. They couldn't see just what was causing the damage yet, so they split up. Emeline tried to get closer to the beast, while the Brionne used Water Gun in an effort to keep the growing flames at bay. roll for emeline - qz2Fzgboroll for Lovisa if needed She's using water gun on the flames - |

Mossrock Forest, one of the places that Layla so enjoyed spending her time within and what she knew of her many fellow rangers it would be the same for them as well - but then again given it were so close to the ranger's base of operations it were in some manner unsurprising right? And it were not unusual for the silvery haired ranger woman to so often come out to this particular forest in order to come camping for a few days at a time with with a group of her pokemon or - like today - just one of her pokemon, in this case it would be Tiko having joined her.
There had just been something strange going on recently and it were not just the weather that were affecting the pokemon and the like, Layla had not quite been able to explain such but there were something off - whether it were to do with the fact that she had recently been reading up on all the gathered information regarding Diamond Crystal and the like or what she wasn't sure but it had been bothering her no end. To the point where the Lucario male had been making great efforts to convince her that she had maybe been letting her imagination get away from her, it had taken a while before Layla finally conceded that maybe this were the case before dismissing it all. That was up until this morning when they had been preparing to head back into the city that it would be Tiko himself that would be getting a little jittery of sorts, well given his own sensing of his surroundings were more attuned that Layla's was and this time the Lucario couldn't exactly dismiss such a thing. "Tiko? What's wrong? . . . . . Wait - is that smoke?" Layla would begin to ask before a frown formed upon her features as both hers and Tiko's focus would turn to the deeper part of the forest.
This would be more than enough to get the pair forgetting their intentions for heading back to whence they came rather heading deeper in and to seek just what were going on, for she would be an awful ranger if she did not make efforts to see what was happening and make efforts to put a stop to such a thing. The flames and heat would be upon them before they realised it and the further they progressed would both Layla and Tiko as best as they were able to try to impede the progress of the fire while trying to - in Tiko's case - ensure that any fleeing pokemon would get away safely while Layla tried catching a glimpse of the being that were causing this.

Mossrock Forest was the perfect place to get some more training in. Ezra had been planning to take Eos into his favorite place in the forest now that she's strong enough to hold her own. Truly, he'd expected it to be the simplest of trips where he could possibly find other trainers to battle or even a wild pokemon to catch perhaps. Eos seems to preen under he touch as he scratches underneath some feathers by her cheek. A laugh leaves his lips as he speaks to her quietly. "You'll love the forest! There's so much space to fly around. You'll love it!" Eos seems to flutter her wings excitedly as he laughs softly.
A simple enough day setting off into Mossrock Forest with a task at hand, Ezra was excited to see how things would turn out. Only, there's a pause as Eos seems to instinctively flutter rapidly at his side, but he's almost sputtering his words out to her with concern. "Whoa! Whoa! Careful! What's wrong?!?" Only after speaking does Eos seem to flutter next to him, not calm, but looking behind him. As he turns, the sound of collapsing trees sound from somewhere else. The smell of smoke beginning to rise in a short distance away. Enough to be worrying, but not enough to be dangerous. Ezra almost jumps out of surprise. What caused this fire? There's a heavy gulp before he looks to Eos and back. If he wanted to be Shula's future champion, he should try to help out. There's a moment where he thinks of his father, the way his father's Pelipper would act on a scene.
Instead of choosing to run like some of the pokemon he begins to start to see coming in his direction that he has to dodge out of the way, he chooses to act. Isn't that what heroes do? There could be people in trouble. His voice is calm as he speaks out to Eos, almost growing drastically serious with a new focus. "Hey! It's okay. We have to help out the pokemon here." Eos seems to flutter for a moment before he can see her seemingly agreeing with him. Quickly, he speaks almost carefully as he starts to move towards the danger, trying to keep himself away from the flames. "Try to fly up and get a better view. Uh, what would dad do? Geez, just stay out of sight if it's a big pokemon. Let's try to find out what it is first before anything." In a quick flutter of wings, Eos goes to the skies. Ezra can still see her, hovering just at the cusp of the canopies that are still left in the forest. Ezra pushes forward, heading towards the smoke and danger. He needs to help whoever could be caught up in this.

As the smoke began to rise high into the air, and the carnage only escalated, Chris gave some thought as to what he would have to expect going forward. Things were looking to be on the right track, with the beast at his command producing great results, but they couldn't keep up their rampage forever. With a populated area not too far away, it wouldn't be long until the situation in the forest was noticed by Mossrock's inhabitants. From there, the local authorities would most definitely wish to mitigate the damage with whatever was at their disposal, and that would surely require stopping the destruction at its source. Unfortunate, since the last thing Chris needed was anyone interrupting his good work. That was then, though. At present, things were more or less going his way. The fire was only spreading, with Pokemon like Lovisa only able to keep it at bay for a while. Furthermore, Chris was still moving forward, his asset still tearing through wild Pokemon like cheap tissue paper and leaving wisps of flame in its wake. The forest's residents - including Deerling, Starly, Shroomish, Hoppip, and so many more species - could only run as best they could, but for each that escaped, there was another that simply couldn't. Just as Chris had predicted, between the power of the forest critters and that of his asset, there was no contest. Level - 75 Gender - Male Ability - Insomnia Moves - Seed Bomb, Fire Fang, Sunny Day, Leer, Headbutt, Bullet Seed (Credit to the artist linked here for the custom sprite)After a while, though, Chris began to notice some odd behavior from the monster under his command. Its green head leered angrily at something high up that Chris himself couldn't quite make out. It looked like a Flying Pokemon that, for some reason, wasn't fleeing like the rest. A scout, perhaps? Chris didn't like to consider the possibility, but it was only given more credence when he caught a glimpse of something himself. It looked like...a trainer? He couldn't make them out all too clearly, but he was fairly certain that was what he saw. He grumbled lightly as he attempted to direct the beast in a more advantageous direction. There seemed to be other trainers about, and far sooner than he'd expected. If they didn't turn back and flee like the forest critters, they'd only slow him down more. That was not something he needed to deal with. (Emeline and Eos have spotted the beast! Everyone else will have to keep rolling if they wish to do the same.)
(Also, if you'd like to help slow the spread of the forest fire and help the forest residents escape, you may. Just describe how you do so in your post, then roll for it. Simple as that.)

Mila was not the heroic sort. As she watched the flames draw closer, heard the footsteps of others coming in to the forest and what she hoped was to her aid, she turned herself from her hiding place and watched the fleeing forest pokemon rush past her and followed them. Her hooves came in helpful here, as much as she hated to admit that they were better for running blind, but by the time she was standing within a group off people she both did and didnt know from their faces, she was shaking.
Flames licked out at the trees around her, pokemon rushed and pushed past her, people were shouting out and calling commands to their own pokemon and in it all, she had no idea what to do. Lena was held close to her, the shiny pokemon equally not going to wander down there and get covered in muck only to die for someone else, but all the same, she did try her best to use her moves to make herself, her trainer, and the way out and away from the fire glow for the natives here.
It wasn't there fault this happened, and even if she didnt want to die, she didnt want them to. | Lena is using confusion to try and guide the wild pokemon from the fire 37d7acMhMila is trying to see the new pokemon |

Now this really wasn't good, the fact that there was a fire raging through this place were bad enough on it's own but the significant harm and the like that such were doing to the local wild pokemon were - in Layla's mind at least - were a great deal worse and the fact that it was proving to be more than difficult to determine just was causing this havoc were a little frustrating also. But while it would be true that the ranger woman wanted to find the source of all this trouble and make efforts to put a stop to it where possible she would be aware that there were the need to both help the pokemon in the area and make efforts to limit the damage as much as were possible.
"Tiko, you be careful now you hear? We needto try get these pokemon away safely and stop the spread where we can so see what you can do." Layla would call over to the Lucario male who had moved a short distance away from where the ranger woman was and had in his own way begun to do just this but would also pause long enough to glance over to the silvery haired ranger woman and nod in a determined manner.
Thus it would be from here that the Lucario male would focus his attention upon the nearby and surrounding foliage and general plant life before beginning to create a 'no mans land' - so to speak - area between the oncoming flames and the surrounding forest that were as clear as were possible and for as far that Tiko were able to get to prevent the fire from traveling too far into the forest. Meanwhile in Layla's case she would be making as careful efforts as were possible to guide and encourage the pokemon that were in the area - and granted already fleeing - to keep going to find somewhere safe and where such were needed offering an extra helping hand to get away.

Ezra could feel his heart in his throat; the panic bubbling up in his chest, but he's always been a brave guy. There'd been times where he had jumped into the sea without a thought to go rescue a kid who'd been washed away when he still lived in slateport. This was no different for him. This was what his mother always was scared of with him. Reckless for the sake of caring; risking himself for others. It's in his nature. The fire was going to be a problem for him. A grimace fills his face as Ezra almost attempts to think a bit more on what he can do, but he's nothing more than a trainer. Eos fluttering above, almost gentle in the wind, despite all the flame and the sound of destruction. She'd always been a lover of the sky, the feeling of flying, and the wind.
Ezra watches her for a second as she searches the expansive forest before she comes down from the canopy in a soft fluttering. There's a squawk from her lips as she starts to try to explain what she saw, but Ezra can't really understand what she's saying. <"There's a two headed thing. It's up ahead. One green head, one red head. It saw me. What should be do next?"> Ezra catches only part of what Eos is trying to say, there's some pieces that just don't make sense to him. A two headed thing. Was it a pokemon? He didn't like this situation. The fleeing pokemon around them and the burning fire starting to continue, he grimaces knowing he has to act now. Was there anyone else around?
"Okay. Okay. It's that way correct?" Pointing in the direction he'd seen Eos come from, Ezra watches the Wingull squawk in an affirmation. "Okay. Let's head that way. Try to use water gun as we go to ease up these flames as we go and give me a path. Whoever is causing this is not gonna know what's coming. Stay close. If you notice any other trainers or officials, let me know." Eos extends her wings and there's an understanding, but Ezra can see the shudder in her feathers. Would his father be disappointed or proud? He couldn't know, but he lets himself scratch under her chin once more before she flies underneath the canopies, spraying water towards the fire as he moves towards the creature. If only he could see exactly how far it was from him or where it was, things could be much easier. Pushing on, he keeps moving through the forest, now going through patches of where the fire was.

Chris attempted to rein in the beast as it continuously tried firing seeds into a nearby pond. As much as it pained him to admit, it was a pointless exercise, as most of them had already hidden at the bottom. They needed to pick up the pace. Chris had originally thought that any trainers nearby would either run for their lives or perish in the flames, giving his asset plenty of time to tear through the terrified forest inhabitants. However, he was starting to get the feeling that that wasn't what was happening. In fact, it occurred to him that there could've easily been a ranger or two within the area helping to mitigate the damage dealt to the forest. If so, then that was definitely troublesome, but so long as they didn't directly engage him, then he could at least enjoy the sight of his asset at work. He looked back at the beast in question to see it standing amidst a small pile of pink floss. Was that a Swirlix? He really needed to pay closer attention to the thing. Unbeknownst to him, while the fire was spreading at a decent pace, the trainers in the area were really starting to dig into his quota. By guiding many of them away from harm, their lives were spared, which was a real boon for the forest and a big blow to Chris's cause. If the trainers were especially bold, they could even make a beeline straight to the source of the destruction, though doing so would be risky. This was what one trainer attempted to do, though doing so would quickly reveal that not all Pokemon had managed to escape yet. Those that hadn't been consumed by the flames were badly burnt, injured, trapped beneath fallen trees, or otherwise unfit to escape on their own. If the trainers wished to save these Pokemon, they'd need to either make a path or brave the fire themselves. Meanwhile, the beast used a mighty headbutt to topple a tree, destroying several nests in the process. Chris had to admit, it was doing well. His heart started to thrum a bit harder as the smoke started to rise up around him. Eos was doing a fantastic job, she was starting to really get the gist of the danger going on. Ezra had always been the type to jump head first into things; never quite giving it a second thought, but as he's in the flames of this fire that's starting to become more and more worrisome as time goes on, he realizes there's two ways he could continue to go about things. The choice was before him; head forward and tackle whatever's causing the forest fire or he could help the pokemon trapped on this side of the fire. As he looks around, he can see some of the pokemon that are trapped and injured in different ways. This is what he always wanted to be. A hero. Someone to be relied on. Perhaps if he'd realized how good he was at getting through fires, he could've been a firefighter or something.
Instead, he looks up to Eos fluttering above him as he takes a moment to really think about how this could go. If he helps the pokemon here, whatever's attack will still remain without some sort of pressure to stop it. Only, he'd helped his mother raise pokemon as young as some of these. "Damn. I-I haven't seen destruction like this before." The words are mostly to himself to try and calm himself down for a moment. As he looks to Eos, he has to make the choice. His voice is very heavy as he does so. Pulling the shirt on his chest up to above his lips trying to keep smoke from being inhaled. He starts to continue. "Shoot. Shoot. Eos use water gun to create a path back for these injured pokemon. We should at least create enough of a path for that. I'll check ahead to see if I can spot the monster. Meet back up in five, okay?" Eos only gives a small squawk that's quiet in affirmation. There's a guilty feeling as he looks to the path he's created. There's too many choices to be had and he knew he would need Eos if he's going to approach the problem fully. Heroes had to make hard choices.
There's a pang of worry, but he holds it down as he continues forward letting Eos stay behind. She'll catch up in time. Time to see if he could spot the beast while she works on creating a path out for the injured pokemon there through the flames. Ezra's never been in a situation like this before. Was this what being a pokemon trainer meant? He didn't really know whether he was meant to act or not. His father would act without hesitation, but Ezra knew he had to play things safer. He's not his father. He's not an officer or a ranger. He's going to be the future champion of Shula. He needed to act. Quietly, he pushes forward with his shirt held to his mouth. His eyes peeled as he ducked behind trees and other sort of debris that could give him cover as he moved forward.

This all were certainly just chaos plain and simple - it were so tough trying to switch between trying to make efforts to quell the fire and make efforts to ensure that the pokemon in the surrounding area would be safe from harm but it were proving challenging even if this were just a part of her role as a ranger. But regardless of this it didn't mean that Layla were not starting to doubt herself all the same as she would take a moment - though it would feel a whole lot longer than a moment - to take the opportunity to look around at all that were going on and seeing how little effect it may have been having. It were about here and now that the ranger woman would have found her gaze coming to fix upon the strange green and red pokemon that she could but safely assume were the cause of the fire and all that came as a result of such.
Now it would truly be here than Layla would be truly conflicted - for she would want to continue trying to put out the fire with Tiko, trying to help the pokemon escape or in turn trying to stop the rampaging pokemon. Sure it were true that it seemed as if her'sand Tiko's efforts regarding the fire and rescue of the wild pokemon didn't seem to be going quite as well as she may have hoped by the looks of things so just maybe it were about time that she had a change of tactics? This would be the reason for the ranger woman glancing over to the Lucario male who in turn had paused in what he were doing in order to regain his breath and look between her and the odd pokemon with a combined look of anger and wariness upon his features for the longest of times.
"Are you alright? Still alright to keep going? Need to try move forward a bit more think we can try clear a path as best we can? See if we can get to the thing and stop it?" Layla called out only to receive a nod in turn, from here would the pair begin their efforts in clearing a path as best they could - sure it would be risky for the flames were getting dangerously close to them but this would just mean they would try to avoid getting too badly burnt, well try being the appropriate word.

Milarnie "Arnie" Colt Me, spoilt? I just know what I want....
That was not normal. No, she was not dealing with whatever that was!
Mila peaked out from her attempt to hide, her hands shaking and her horn glowing softly from the sheer stress she was under in that second before she looked to Lena and saw the shiny pokemon looking so focused. Her head was turned, away from whatever that thing was and on something to the side of the area. Mila didnt want to get closer, she didnt want to get anywhere near that thing, so maybe this would work.
Not trying to push closer, but trying to get to the pokemon stuck in the flames and now stuck in the embers of trapped, mila climbed over the bushes and fallen trees, whined about her beautiful dress going from a lovely cream to nasty ash covered brown, but kept herself moving. Look, she was trying, people could see she seemed to care, right?
Lena followed after the gijinka, attempting to use confusion as mila gave a small screech at her situation, then began to try and lift the smaller logs and whatever she could to free trainer wild pokemon. With Lena aiding her, the confusion made things lighter, but she was still clearly uncomfortable and a little scared, what if these terrified pokemon tried to hit her! | Lena is using confusion to help mila free the wild mons MT6j0VJR |

Milarnie Colt Morgan Émeline Regnard Layla Quartermain Ezra D'Lange In such a dire situation, the only thing that could realistically stop the rampage or mitigate its effects was the intervention of nearby trainers. The Mossrock authorities would likely show up at some point, but whether they'd be able to stop the destruction themselves, let alone successfully put out the forest fire in time, seemed up in the air, so it was more or less up to the brave few already on the scene to combat the carnage. Unfortunately, things were proving to be quite difficult among the few leading the charge. Milarnie and Lena's attempt to rescue trapped Pokemon on the outskirts of the inferno was largely unsuccessful, with only a scant few Bug-types making their getaway. One of the more careless ones even gave Milarnie a bit of a jostle as it did so. Suffice to say, freeing the trapped Pokemon, whether through physical force or telekinesis, was no small feat, and for Milarnie, it wasn't exactly pleasant. Layla, on the other hand, was heading forward with her own companion, though in doing so would find herself facing some difficulties. What with the intense heat, the rising smoke, and the unclear pathway, it was difficult, especially without a Water-type to extinguish the flames. At the very least, Layla managed to get a decent distance before having something unfortunate happen to her. Ezra, though, had just the partner for the job, and as Eos cleared a narrow path for nearby Pokemon to escape, the young man was able to get quite close to the source of the destruction simply by following the path that had already been cleared. In between the trees, right there for him to see, was the beast in question, letting out a mighty roar out of one of its heads as the other spat large seeds at a small purple thing that was unfortunate enough to get itself cornered. As it rushed forward, a man came into view and began to follow it, only to stop for a moment to glance in Ezra's direction. The stranger looked perturbed for a second, but not before refocusing his attention on the rampaging monster. Clearly, the man was controlling the beast, but for what purpose? Level - 75 Gender - Male Ability - Insomnia Moves - Seed Bomb, Fire Fang, Sunny Day, Leer, Headbutt, Bullet Seed (Ezra has spotted both Chris and the beast. Meanwhile, some more Pokemon have escaped.)
(Layla and Ezra, if you both wish, you may be able to get appreciably close to the beast by the end of your next turn. Since Milarnie hasn't rushed into the fire just yet, she'll need to put in more effort if she wishes to.)
Roll to see what befalls Layla and her partner Tiko as she attempts to brave the forest fire (low roll is worse) NLEKq0ZJ - Just a big singed, nothing serious. Layla is mildly hurt, and Tiko takes 10 damage (flat, no typing involved)

Important Info
Season
Good news, Autumn is here! The sticky heat of the summer is finally gone, but the bad news? Its gotten very cold very fast. Berrys have fallen early from their perches, fruit and food is getting caught in snap frosts and icy mornings and this is leading to very cold mornings, pokemon getting desprate quickly and dark and chilly evenings
Next season change ~ May 20th
Swarming Pokemon!
Encouraged Characters
Currently, our character numbers are pretty even, so aside from us gently encouraging more civilians and breeders...go nuts!
Numbers of Gijinka on site have dropped, too, so they're open to be applied for at the moment- though, if you're interested, go check out the adoptable threads for many wanted ones! They could always use players! ;-)
