Leaving the dojo had taken a bit longer then Gwen had thought it would, Ottero had wanted to spend more time there, to train more so that he could get stronger in order to protect Anko and how herself- Convincing him to leave had proven kind of hard but in the end there had been little choice, the young Quaxly too tired to really move anymore and, instead of putting him into his Pokeball as she had considered the girl had scooped him up and put him on her shoulders.
The blue feathered duck’s breathing was hard and laboured from the effort he had put in, his breathing clear in the small fifteen year old’s ear given how close the two were to one another. “We could have kept going I can still do more.” Ottero complained and the girl was grateful that she understood Quaxly well thanks to the one her mom had around for the last almost six years- longer had it been owned but of course Gwen and her siblings hadn’t known their mother growing up till six years ago. The c hold shook her head lightly at what he had said, a frown pursing her pale features. “No you did enough and even if you could do more I’m not about to let you keep going when you were about to pass out.” The young Breeder rolled her eyes slightly at her Pokémon’s unwillingness to stop. Sure, she knew he wanted to protect Anko and even herself- but he needed to keep himself safe too.
Ottero felt himself shift against the girl’s shoulder, a grumble leaving his heaving chest but he didn’t complain any further. The small teenager’s eyes drifted downward to Anko, the Shiny Quaxly keeping hold of his Trainer’s left hand as the group left the dojo. “We’re gonna try to get Anko a bit of practice next time that way—-” her words were cut off by the shoulder bound duck’s indignant squack; obviously he didn’t want that to happen. The girl’s frown deepened as she pulled to a stop on the sidewalk a bit outside of the dojo. “No Ottero I know you want to keep him safe but he needs to be able to help himself too, that’s part of growing up for people and adapting for anyone really.” The girl lectured the other water type: How strong his determination to keep Anko out of harms way or from doing things himself was admirable- though it was also rather frustrating.
This conversation would be the scene that anyone around would come across, some random passers-by walking around, a few slowing to catch a bit of the talk but otherwise none had stopped to interject or done anything to draw attention to themselves. For the moment at least Gwen and her two Pokemon would be on their own- the girl’s other Pokemon tucked safely away in his Pokeball for now.
