Guys, Shula is 15.
As of March 10th 2024, Shula has formally turned 15. 5 years under the current system and the longest running the site has ever been with so much thanks to our wonderful staff team and to y'all, the members, who have made our little head canon RP baby in to the community it has become today. As such, I'm doing a little raffle. Its an easy entry, all characters can enter and it's not an event based prompt you'll be working with. (Mods, [*event][*roll] for the code)You have until next week, when this announcement comes off the board, to write a post. This post need to cover ICly, or OOCLY and ICly if you wanna, at least one example of a memory in shula which you are attached to or care about. A lore announcement, a pokemon you fell in love with, a plot twist, an event, a character you adored, a plot which you enjoyed. Make it a flashback, a memory, a freind telling a story.... Anyway you wanna have your character tell the world about something which made Shula special to them, show us! Minimum as always for these kinda of things will be 200 words, but I will take doodles/drawings/so forth on this occasion because this is a big one.

LOGAN KAITOS ~ one of a kind It was a simple thing.
There was a plaque going up on the lab, it was bronze in color and simple and square in shape. There was writing on it, something no one could read it was said seeing as it seemed to just be delivered in the night, but those who knew of the Village knew the writing was seen there pretty often so whatever was written, had to mean a lot.
Looking on the bottom of the square was a shiny patch, Kari had explained when one placed their palm to it that things were shown or shared and everyone would have a different experience. Logan had been quick to step up, make an example of himself and generally show off a little too for his own ego but he hadn't been ready for this.
He could see himself, his pokemon, the pushing they had done for his gym. The group working together, building the classroom to offer an example to others and then further back, Trying so hard against Pixa in order to prove one of his kind was enough, could be the right kind of person to lead a gym, could be something for others to work towards.
It had been such a fight, it had been so much hard work in training to get there and meeting so many people to get in all the work they could and then there it was. The moment he was handed the gym badge, the moment Pixa mentioned she was going to retire and of all the trainers of psychic types out there, she hoped he stepped up. Taking a step back, logan didnt even know there were tears running down his face until Zakuro leaned over and brushed them from his eyes, whispering softly that his memories had been shown in the plaque itself.
So everyone would know now, and actually, Logan was glad for it.

Milarnie "Arnie" Colt Me, spoilt? I just know what I want....
Mila took a small breath as she looked over the plaque, it was boring really because there was little to no shape to it and sure there was the nice hand sized shiny bit but was that it? Rolling her eyes, the gijinka skipped forwards the moment a gap offered itself and tried to think of something to try and project before she lifted her hand up, set it down against the cool metal and then shivered.
She didnt get to decide, she worked that one out as she watched herself. That darn contest, the one she had actually won. She was a mess, such a state as she watched herself again and again try to push a bit harder and progress a bit more. Her hair was a mess, tangled and sweaty from her face, her makeup was running and her dress was in bit by the time she was done. Ripped there, snagged on the other side, the edges beginning to fray from where she had to keep putting in effort.
And yet, right there above her, hibi was also trying the entire time. He was pushing as hard, they were both so ugly by the end of it but they had won. They got given their ribbon while Mila probably looked the worst she had ever done in her life but there she was, an official contest winner, with a fully evolved pokemon at her side and standing there as a gijinka, tall and proud.
Ok, yes, the plaque picked a bad memory, but probably, her favorite too. | TAG: @someone NOTES |

So everyone was doing this thing? Well who was he to be the one fighting against the rest of the people around him, though lars did wait a little bit for the original gasps and wos to wear down a bit and people to leave as it seemed the memories which got brought up were ones that people picked internally and not exactly on purpose. He had things he didnt want the world to see, he was very aware of that, but something still wanted him to try this. As such, when he did finally step up and put his hand down, the cold which ran over his body did make him pause and consider pulling away, until he felt himself smiling. Of course it was the girls, the stupid couple who everyone but them could see had fallen for each other about as hard as those in love are want to do and yet neither had any idea. Months of poking fun at the pair, of training them to be bigger and better and stronger and then that idiot he'd had to host in his home. Ok, no, wait, the maid thing was funny. But still, the moment the duo finally got themselves to a point to work it all out and have their family. Hells, that little pink kitten who was born and within moments, the pair were trying to look out for her and they knew something was wrong and they were going to fix it. Oh it was a stupid memory, it was a family of pets for Xerneas's sake, but it was a good watch and Lars was sure he was winning some hearts and minds behind himself as the memories of the pair falling in love and having their own little ones shone on the plaque. So soft, all of them. 100/100 - Level Stats

"Legendary gijinkas, huh? Afraid I've never seen one before," Niko mused, taking a sip of his coffee. It'd been some time, but he'd finally gotten the opportunity to once again come face-to-face with his old friend Lex Griffin. This, suffice to say, was a big deal for Niko. He owed him a real debt of gratitude, and after parting ways for a good while, it was nice for the both of them to see each other again. Lex may have had a name you'd expect a comic book supervillain to have, but he was also one of the most goodhearted, upstanding people Niko had ever met, and he'd be lying if he said he didn't feel any sense of admiration.
"Neither have I, at least for the time being," Lex replied. "I've looked into them, though, since they have a real history here. Turns out, sightings of them aren't too uncommon."
"Really?"
The silver-haired man shrugged. "Apparently, yeah. A decent while back, for example, there was a reported incident where a young man came across one such Gijinka while meandering around Faraday Plains. The guy even fought his...father?"
Niko raised an eyebrow at this idea. A single guy, picking a fight with a Legendary? "That's quite the accomplishment. Who exactly was the 'father,' if I may ask?"
"That would be Zekrom, the Unovan dragon."
"Damn," Niko remarked. "Wonder if it had the flu or something. Otherwise..."
"I think the kid might've mentioned something like that, yeah," Lex recalled. "It's been a little while since I read that particular report. That being said, I imagine that if he could go up against something like that, you probably could, too, huh?"
Niko scanned the interior of the cafe as he pondered this hypothetical. Him, fight a Legendary? Sure, he might not have been weak, but he was no prodigy. If he actually got into an encounter like that, and his opponent wasn't wounded, or sick, or holding back...Yeah, his prospects wouldn't be great. Still, if Lex was really that confident in his odds, he didn't see much reason to shoot him down.
"Here's hoping."

There were so many things that brought so many different memories - good and bad - that would pass through aKira's mind that wold bring a mix of emotions, it were enough to get a small smile forming upon the man's features as dual eyes lingered on the plaque that had appeared upon the lab as if out of no where with the strange writing on it.
Flashes of different memories would continue to move through the man's mind before he would come to settle upon one in particular - one in which had happened so long ago that he had almost forgotten about such a thing - and it were certainly not one he had quite expected to linger at the forefront of his mind.
A large room that had been constructed to look like a cave and had a small and scared little Gible within and hiding away from the other larger dragons that were within the area too, NIco had been so small and afraid back then. He had been such a small and scared little guy back then, though his confidence had gotten better over the years there were still hints of that scared little boy even long after he had evolved and he were still as clingy as ever. Oddly however this were something that akira had never minded, even though he cared for all his pokemon as equally as he could despite the slight bias towards the dragons the now Gabite boy always had a soft spot in his heart and brought with it so many good memories too.

“What does Shula mean to me? Is that what it really says?”
The raven haired woman fell silent, a single hand rose to rest two fingers on her chin in deep thought. There has been so many things that have occurred since her arrival in Shula. Memories from her first day here, when she accidentally barged in on the Professor’s Lab even though it was a private dwelling. To her first ever egg bought in Shula, the little female rockruff becoming such a key member of the team. To her first adoption, Teslo growing up so fast now that he was a father. Ah, her first big game win in the plaza rewarding her with her riolu who also was the first to evolve on her team. She hasn’t been in the plaza for a while now. Maybe, going there will help her cope with her current situation would be a good idea.
Oh! She also couldn’t forget about her first capture in Shula. The poor little ditto feeling so lost and unwanted, Koji certainly has felt more at home with her instead of out in the wild. Oh man. That was just a start! There was her first shulian form, her first shiny, her first successful breeding, and even her first egg from her own breeding. There was so much just in her pokemon alone that Genesis could say what Shula means to her. Even the events in Shula. Like that investigation on the crystal caves, running into that legendary, contest, and that halloween event that has made her take a new look at life. The people of Shula too! All of this and so much more.
But the more the breeder thought about it, the more she felt like she had an answer to whoever sent her this letter. Although yes, she loved her pokemon, loved her home, loved her breeding business, and loved the people she has came across so far. There was one thing. One thing that topped it all in her books. It was simple, but one she shouldn’t trade it for the world. Because in the end, none of this would’ve happened for this reason alone.
Straightening herself up and offering a small smile on her deep red glossy lips, haze gaze fixed in front of her. After all, she still couldn’t see nor hear what was going on. She replied on her shulian absol to translate. “Despite my current condition, I do really enjoy my life in Shula. Shula has provided me with a place to call home, a place where I can be myself without worrying what else might be waiting for me outside of Shula. Shula is my place, allowing me to follow my dreams. So… Yeah… That’s what Shula means to me. A place to call home.”

Post by Clover Frost on Mar 13, 2024 6:31:19 GMT
Clover and Cynder couldn't help but share a chuckle in front of the contest hall, remembering just how goddamn ridiculous the last contest season was. She actually decided to dip her toes into contests, and she did so by playing a dancing game onstage? During what was supposed to be a Valentine's event? And she tied for second place?!
The whole memory tickled her. Sure, it was a pretty fun experience looking back, but it somehow simultaneously made her feel so embarrassed. Cynder, at the very least, enjoyed herself perfectly fine, but she was still willing to find the humor in it.
"Do you remember when you thought I needed more red and pink in my outfit?" Clover asked her. "I was like, 'Cynder, we've been to Piers concerts before. I think I know what his fans wear.' I guess I didn't want to commit so much to the seasonal bit or something."
She laughed for a moment, remembering seeing the other performances. They were, perhaps, a bit more committed to the theme for the most part. Didn't make them any less cheesy, though.
"I guess if we did throw in some more pink, plus some hearts and crap, that'd probably make the judges happy-"
"Excuse me," A voice spoke from behind them. Clover turned around and saw that it was a rather nervous-looking teenage girl. Not someone Clover could recall off the top of her head.
"What's up?"
The girl took a moment to consider her words. "Um...I, uh, thought I recognized you. You're Clover, right, from the contest? I just wanted to say congratulations. You put on a great show, and uh...I liked it."
Clover was a tad surprised. She knew that doing a public performance would put eyes on her, but she wasn't really expecting too many people to be interested in her weeks afterwards. She was a newbie when it came to contests, participating alongside a good few veterans and specialists. She didn't exactly have the sort of star power they did, did she? Probably not, but regardless, it looked like she had a fan. Kind of an interesting experience, to say the least.
Well, if even a performance like hers could capture people's hearts, then perhaps there was some worth to contests beyond the prizes after all. Something to consider going forward, if she ever found herself in need of clout.
She smiled. "Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!"

Post by Ilargi “Bii” Benigno on Mar 13, 2024 18:38:55 GMT
Bii looked at the doll. It was the very fancy art doll she’d gotten from the holiday bazaar. That was the day she’d met Lavender, yet another human who had been nice to her. The girl was kind and fashionable.
The gijinka put the doll to the side, thinking over her adventures in Shula thus far. She’d met more kind people than she’d ever thought possible. Yes, some had been petty or cruel, but she’d expected that. She was used to that. The ones who were nice… It was so wonderful she could scarcely accept it.
She wanted to keep this life. Even if being a ranger was hard and scary and she didn’t feel like a good stand-in for Ilargi, living this way was too wonderful to give up. The woman brought her knees under her chin as she sat on her bunk, thinking of what could happen if she kept living like this. Could she spent the rest of her life this way? The work would be hard. There would be so much to get used to. But, meeting all of these nice people…
Maybe she’d get another doll again soon. Perhaps she’d make a new friend. Or, get one to share with someone she already knew. That’d be nice. That’d be very nice, indeed.

If you asked Lucas how he felt about the Shulian Team Rocket branch, his first response would likely be, “What are you talking about,” “Get back to work,” or maybe even, “What are you getting at?” depending on who, well, you are. If you were to ask if he was attached to the team, though, well…
Humans get used to anything. Anything can be comforting if only because it’s familiar. And, as much as Lucas is loathe to admit he misses that office space for anything but the prestige it brought, a small part of him got used to introducing Rocket grunts to the organization. Or, at least, the Shulian branch of it. Team Rocket is a part of his family's business; his legacy. So, yes, there was some mild attachment he had to it and a pride that was a little warmer strictly contentment at having useful tools when thinking about how far some of the initiates had gone.
Having some members like Reaper now in a position to do him meaningful favors was… odd. But, not unpleasant. He wouldn’t dare describe it to any paternal feeling because he would hope whatever children he might have wouldn’t be as outright stupid/petty/vile/hideous as some of the grunts could be, but there was that odd contentment. What a disgusting feeling. But, it was there all the same.
… And, he couldn't help but hope it kept happening. If all went well and Team Rocket reclaimed its position as the sole clandestine power in the region without peer or threat, those numbers would increase. Lucas did bother to smile at the thought. Here’s to more recruits and more connections in the future.

So, Susanna didn’t win his first contest. But, he did get a ribbon out of it. The man thought back on the event. There had been other well-known coordinators there. The other fresh face had a bold, unique style. It was eye-opening and more than a little humbling.
As cute as Koda was, Sue couldn’t just lean on that. He’d have to take cues from the others. He’d have to develop the stage presence of Milarnie; figure out dazzling appeals like Aurelia; and, carve out his own niche like that Galarian girl. It was intimidating. Making art always was. But, his team was getting bigger. They trusted him. Some of them trusted him enough to evolve for the sake of their shared goals.
He had to honor that.
The man gripped the first ribbon he’d ever gotten tighter. Whatever mild self-consciousness arose from thinking back on the first entry he’d made (the fact he hadn’t spoken; he was the only man participating; his was so understated and lowkey compared to their flashy appeals) was brushed to the side. People knew him and his team now. He had to keep pressing forward.
Until then, he’d keep this ribbon as a nice reminder of their first attempt.
EXTRA! OOC Memory.
I think my main regret from the first time I was on Shula was not staying active on Mason. Particularly, I really wish I had seen the whole arrest thing through. Everything from the initial thread with Mason attacking the ranger to the jail thread to the way characters were already picking sides and the discussed possibility of legal consequences was so fun! It's not canon anymore, though, so what can you do except get nostalgic? Besides, there’s lots of fun storytelling opportunities to be had this go around! Shula’s good for that! Put in a little time and a little collaborating and you can get some really gut-busting or heart-wrenching things going!

Important Info
Season
Good news, Autumn is here! The sticky heat of the summer is finally gone, but the bad news? Its gotten very cold very fast. Berrys have fallen early from their perches, fruit and food is getting caught in snap frosts and icy mornings and this is leading to very cold mornings, pokemon getting desprate quickly and dark and chilly evenings
Next season change ~ May 20th
Swarming Pokemon!
Encouraged Characters
Currently, our character numbers are pretty even, so aside from us gently encouraging more civilians and breeders...go nuts!
Numbers of Gijinka on site have dropped, too, so they're open to be applied for at the moment- though, if you're interested, go check out the adoptable threads for many wanted ones! They could always use players! ;-)
